terrible mileage last tank

I just refilled my tank today. It was slightly less than half full with only 170 miles on the tank. Usually it breaks over 100 before it leaves the full mark. The only thing different on this tank was that I changed the fuel filter but it doesn't have any leaks. It made me wonder if someone siphoned off some diesel from me but the service rep said the 06's had a float ball that prevented this. Maybe the cold weather made it do this? The overhead showed 15.5 mpg which I know it is usually about 1.5 high but the math said about 7 mpg. I haven't towed anything either. Any ideas?

Have you check the oil level? If it's higher than normal one or more injectors is leaking fuel into the crankcase.
If not I say you got some really crappy diesel fuel.

Yea, me too. I dont know whats going on. I drove the same distance at the same speed on the same road and used almost a quarter tank more than I usually do. I just filled up again so I noted the amount of fuel I put in and my odo reading so I can do some hand calculations. Im hoping it was just a bad batch of fuel.

ULSD wont make that big of a difference, it contains 3-4% less energy than LSD, so THE MOST you will drop is that 3-4%, not 50%
