Super Chips
Super Chips
Has anyone used this tuner? The seller raves about it and swears it does not void the warranty. All you have to do is hook it up and set it back to factory defaults. It supposed to be real easy to use plug it in select tow or performance etc. and it is done. I am concerned about voiding the warranty though and am hesitant to believe the seller. Any input appreciated.
From my experience, not worth it.
This was on my 2002, so the 3rd gen might be different though.
The gain for the price just isn't up there as much as the EZ's, or Bullydogs, etc.
And that "doesn't void the warranty" talk, run away fast.
Dealer can tell if anything was used, even the tuners.
The tuner might very well "put it back to stock", but the computers on the truck still record parameters,
and if those parameters are outside normal operation, you're caught red handed.
Not easy to tell, but with some digging, the Dealer can find the evidence.

IMO tuners are not worth it, and yes the dealer can tell if you have done mods. The thing you need to decide before you do mods is which is more important to you, a truck that runs good with no warranty, or a stock truck with a warranty that the dealer MIGHT support.
Is there anyway to get to the Cummins ECM without having to go through the Dodge ECM? If so wouldnt this be the way to go as the DODGE ECM doesnt allow for all the functions of the Cummins ECM.
Talk to your local dealership about what they will and wont warranty. The dealership here is al good with chips and programmers as long as you bring it in and it runs with no codes being set. They honor the bullydogs and Dr. Performance modules and even sell them. My old dealership would warranty anything they would install, so i would buy some of my stuff through them and have them do the install work. costs a little more money but then their liable... btw ... get it in writting...
