super B
I have done nothing to the wastegate on my Super B. You have to remember that with the standard TST it does not start fueling until 12psi of boost and is all in somewhere around 30psi. That may explain some sort of lag that you are experiencing.

so did i. i just put the bd twins setup on the truck and it spools up like crazy. but if you are just mashing the gas from a stop it takes awhile to get them spooled. but not that big of a deal cause you are actually moving at about the same speed as you would be with the stocker.
I completely agree with JCleary. Don't know him, but his comments are always right on the money from my experience. I don't think it would ever be necessary to use 9x9 on any single turbo to get max hp. I could be wrong. A REAL good and strong setup for me is the BDDL on Performance and TST early twins on 3X4. This is extremely strong and responsive. I don't know the exact hp, but it is strong! I can roll into the throttle at 25mph and roast the tires for quite a ways. Once the initial cloud clears, the exhaust is basically clean. This is what you want to see. On the other hand, If I am stuck in traffic, I can make a small car completely disappear until the turbo lights with these settings.
The air rushing sound you hear sounds like a leak at the turbo discharge elbow. BD specifies a Viton o-ring for this. Make **** sure this is installed. This will cost about 3 psi loss.
The Super B is a misunderstood turbo. Myself, like many others have read until my eyes bled to research the 'best' turbo for my application. It is not the 'little brother' turbo.
I do know this: it begins life as a Schwitzer S300 and it is built with custom wheels to their specifications. It is NOT an S300. It will produce more lag, period. It has no meaningful equivalent as the extended tip wheels provide a much broader range(map). I am sure that it is not the equivalent to the SP66, but it will respond better and give a broader power response range. The inducer and turbine are matched well for the application (motor).
Their rating system is retarted and I have told them this, today in fact. The Super B will produce some **** good numbers for a single. Is it the answer to everything, absolutely not.
I hope to have a compressor map for this darn thing soon. I will post it.
My cruising temps this evening were about 600 deg. at 3 psi. Temp. was about 75 at sea level.

the o ring that came with the kit is the one i used.
i don't think it is leaking there, i don't think it is leaking anywhere, or at least i can't find a leak.
i agree with you guys on the the whole 9/9 thing. it seems to work alot better on 7/7.i still get alot of smoke, and this worries me.
i am not sure if it is working with me or against me.
just not use to this turbo yet, and i am going to try and get to the local dyno this week to run some different settings to find where my power is, and where it goes down.
i can't wait to get my injectors done, maybe this will work out better, and maybe i might have to get a different intercooler.
i would like my EGT's to come down some. i think i have the same temps as you stated at cruising speeds, which are about 60mph.psi is about 2-3
maybe i will look into a new o ring, just in case, and some new boost rubber pieces.i am starting to like this turbo better as i get use to it, but the real test will be when i get to the track. ran a couple passes last year, so i have some thing to go by, but alot of things have changed from then. if i get down the track 1.5 seconds faster, i will be happy. that will put me real low 13's.
thanks for all the replies, this is awsome.

Pullin Hard, You are allowed to use different numbers for Power and Torque enhancement. Try 6/5 7/6 8/6. Unless you have a modded CP3 you won't be able to run anything above 8/8 for more than a moment before draining the rail. Lowering the TE numbers tends to prolong the time before the rail empties.ks

New injectors (especially large ones, over 40hp) will cause even more heat problems on higher settings unless you have a modded CP3.
Might I suggest you upgrade to the regular twins program. Call TST, order a bypass plug ($10). When you get it, plug it in and send in the box for a $50 upgrade. You can also get the additional timing functions at the same time. The regular twins flash starts fueling at 4psi and is all in by 24psi. It's smoother than the early twins (4-11psi) and I think will not generate as much heat. I'm going to dyno with both flashes and see what results I come up with. I personally think with my manual trans that the early twins is to agressive at anything over about 4x2 for daily driving. It will bark my turbo without lifting the throttle at times.
My dyno numbers were with a BDDL on tow and TST standard on 7x7 using my SPS66. Temps never got over 1200 or so. No pressure is used with these settings.
On the street, however, I cannot run these high settings. If I do a 4th gear roll-on, I'll hit 1400° before I get to shift to 6th gear. I have a bigger turbo, no boost leaks, and a Banks Technicooler.
It seems the cleaner my truck runs the more power it makes. My least smoky dyno run was the highest HP. It may be different for you. Like I said, all trucks are different.
I'd look into that boost leak. Maybe re-seat that O-ring and give it another drive. I know when my blow-off valve gets hung up, even just a little, boost won't climb over 30psi. Normally I hit 55psi all day long. You may want to check the exhaust clamp again, too, to make sure that's not where the hissing is coming from.
If you're positive that you do not have a boost leak, I wouldn't hesitate to adjust the adjustable wastegate actuator rod to raise boost a little. That turbo is happy at 40 to 45 lbs of boost. The assembly is done by ordinary people, who do make mistakes from time to time, so it is conceivable that it was set a little low when assembled.
All good suggestions. A rather primitive and cheap device can be fashioned to check wastegate setting: A trip to Lowes and some cheap brass fittings and a bicycle pump will show you where your wastegate is beginning to open. This is the mechanical (static) setting. A better setup is with clean shop air, a regulator and the same fittings and tubing. This will not tell you when the wastegate will actually open as there are other dymanics under load that can change. The pressure and the actuator bleed is always naturally trying to lift the valve. If the fueling is agressive, it will blow right through this at least for a moment.
I agree that the twins update may be good for you. I have the early twins flash and it is VERY agressive as was indicated. I can appreciate how difficult this must be with a manual on the street. If I roll into lockup with small boost <10, it will immediately flare to 25-30 with a surge and cloud and 45 psi with more throttle. This is with the -original- slushy auto. This will be going in about a week. I also suspect a leak in my original plastic intercooler. This will be going after the trans.
The twins flash will get things going very quick. The TST in general will drain the rail. Don't shoot for big settings (9x9). Start with a smaller number and watch smoke and temp. You can bring the TE setting down if stacking with another product like the EZ or BDDL. The CP3 is generally known to hit a wall arond 200HP or less addtl. fueling.
The reality is that really -big- reliable and cool HP numbers are produced by compounded turbos that allow MUCH more cool air with the given fuel. It is all a balance. A dyno run might produce over 500HP on my truck with good temps, but in the whole 1/4 mi?????? Its all about money.

can't find any boost leak. i know i stil have the exhaust leak, tried to fix today but the clamp is garbage, need a new one from BD.
i can pull boost up to so far 41psi, and tonight i changed the boost elbow, so tomorrow o the way to work i am going to test it.
i will also try the different settings as well. i did try some different ones at night but hard to tell if it is smoking alot or not. 7/7 seems to be working ok, but the temps get up there pretty fast.i think i will take your advice and send the box in for the updated twins flash.need the plug first.
can't seem to find where the rushing air noise is coming from, but i will keep looking. for the rest of you running a bigger turbo, does your trucks still sound the same, or do they make more noise and air noises?????
i am thinking it is just some thing i am not use to, since it does more more air.
i also want to get some new boost sleeves, as the stock one from the turbo to the intercooler pipe seems a bit jammed and needs to be shortened a bit.

so i went out on the wek end and raced my buddies d max , which i lost to about 2 weeks ago. well the turbo is doing something as i can now beat him, butr not by much. i raced him before with a quad box, and now have a tst/ez stack with the super b turbo. i thought for sure i would leave him in the dust, but his truck was thrown codes from his tranny, and i beat him every time, but liek i said not by much. he has a BDDL only, with exhaust.(06 truck)
i really need to get these EGT's down, it defeul on every pass we made. not sure what to do,any suggestions???
will the banks intercooler and high ram make enough difference?
what else can i do with out going to twin turbo's this year???
is meth safe enough?i had mine set to de fuel at 1500, and it did every time. i don't like running that hot even for the very short time that i do.maybe this is not possible with my set up. what do you others with much more horse power and torque do to keep the temps down.

thats what i am thinking, i tried a couple of different number on the box, and 7/6 seemed to work best, but every thing smoked like ****.
it de fueled so fast, between shifts when boost wasn't all the way up.
seeing 40psi with the boost elbow on.
i guess when i get some injectors, i will look into some meth, and after market intercooler like the banks kit, and i guess maybe a twin set up.
it never ends does it!!!
