Steering stabilizers
Steering stabilizers
Quick question.
2004 4x4, crew cab, 5.9L, going to put a 6" Fabtech suspension lift on it along with 20" rims and 325/60-20 Nitto tires.
Our truck has a stock steering stabilizer, but I want to put a dual kit on there. Does anybody have or know about these things? Rancho, calling their customer service line, appeared to know nothing but the stock replacement model number and Fabtech has one, but it's a whopping $260ish.
Any help or advice (do I really need a better one?) would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

With those larger tires and a lift, do you want a steering dampener or a sector shaft stabilizer?

Thanks for the input fellas.
Here's my story. Our truck is a garage queen. It maybe, MAYBE, drives 2000 miles a year. A couple of times a year it tows the horse trailer around, 4 to 5 times a year it tows the flatbed trailer a couple of miles to load up on hay for my wife's horse, and then occasionally I will take it into work.
So, I'm really not into paying over $200. Cost/benefit analysis says I would be better off spending my monies elsewhere.
I'm just trying to eliminate the possibility of bumpsteer and whatever other evils come with lifting and putting heavier tires/wheels on there.

This one is vastly superior to most, and will never need to be replaced. It uses a rebuildable Radflo shock. $191

I have an unused Thuren stabalizer that could not be installed due to a Mag-Hytec pan on the front diff and he will not take it back I'll let it go for $150 plus shipping if you are interested. Just PM me. It looks like a nice strong unit, too bad I couldn't put it on the truck.
FWIW, if you mod the mounting bracket slightly, you can mount the Sky Jacker dual units and retain your stock stabilizer all at the same time. Just chamfer the stud hole on the new mount to accept the stud on the inside end of the stock unit. I run 265-70/19.5 G's on Rickson steel wheels (very heavy) and this setup controls them no problem....
you can get the skyjacker which is working fine for me http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/03-08...7695QQtcZphoto
I have this one Pauly and it works great! Installed this and a Thuren trac-bar and it tightened everything right up! Plus, I like how it kinda looks stock, and it also matches the Mag-Hytec pan!
