Stacks and performance?

Is there any downside to having stacks? Not so much on the noise factor, but more along the lines of... do they cause problems, decrease performance, ect?

I'm looking at a set of 6 inch miter duals...

TIA!

A hole in the bed, a soot covered truck when you start it after the rain, keeping them pretty (polishing). Other than that I don't know of any performance downsides. If I didn't need my topper I'd have them on my truck. I say go for it.

Just put 6" miters on my truck and these noise is deafening in the cab. Had 5" on before and not near as loud.Just giving you a little heads up on what you will be dealing with. Have tried a muffler, a resonater, with no good results. Either one will knock the exhaust note down some but both make the drone 5 times worse. Cant find an even trade off. Ihave a couple threads on here right now looking for a solution. If no solutions are found I will be putting the 5" back on

You can always get the 51" Donaldson or Nelson muffler and put it in.

being louder and having soot to clean up on the back of the truck are the only drawbacks. It's not too bad though. Keeping water out is something to think about too. Even though you use a flex pipe ( that will drain water ) when installing them...I prefer to keep it out all together. When my truck isn't in it's garage....

Hey guys when you get your stacks go to Iowa80.com and get some stack hats. They keep rain and snow out, and will not blow off in the wind. I dont think they are that expensive, but its been awhile.

I bought some stainless buckets from tractor supply, if the wind gets bad I just bungee them to the bed hooks.

It's a great idea and if they're something someone likes... more power to them but, oh man !

I was at Commerce and a guy pulled up with them on.....
( see above ). Even he got out of his truck and tied them off with something so the tinging would stop !

You could always just drill little holes in the exhaust to drain water if other options are out.

The stack hats aren't weathercaps, theyre like gloves to keeps the rain out. They only thing about not covering them in the rain is wet soot is more nasty than dry soot.

Yeah but what iowa80 carries goes ting ting. maybe they have something else ?? I didn't look :-) although there are other styles of the ting ting.

edit : ok, I see the hats now. When ever I see iowa80 mentioned I always think of the ting ting... sorry.
