What size are you guys running. I want to go w/5" because of teh fact taht I will be running twins, here is teh parts list I came up with any insight on what else I'll need is appreaciated.

Mine is 4" underneath with a 36" Magnaflow up to the bed manifold...Then 5" from there up with two 5" resonators...About $900.00 installed...Ben

my local truck supply has that Y pipe for about $75 I think...

and you're getting HOSED on the stacks... there's a place on ebay that sells new 5" stacks for about $100 a pair. you may have to cut them down a little, but that's no big deal...

and I don't know about the stack mount clamps... sure sound pricey to me!!! I just used a couple two bolt clamps that I tweaked a little...

also, I'd weld as many connections as is convenient and still allow you to disassemble the setup for working on the truck... I'm planning one on each end of the flex pipe, one where the elbow goes up to the bed, and one at each stack... the rest will be welded. saves you another $40-50 on clamps. also, do yourself a favor, and buy the pre-formed clamps... a little more expensive, but MUCH better quality, and they're actually re-usable... the flat bands are SORTA re-usable, but I've been down that road before... you can only tighten them a couple times and they're stretched too far... the pre-formed ones you can have off and one a zillion times w/ no problems.

I just can't do it man... to me, a turbo diesel has to be straight piped... MAYBE a very small resonator if the sound is just unbearable, but I've invested a pretty good amount of time/money/energy making my truck livable INSIDE while still sounding like pure evil goodness OUTSIDE!

I love the way my truck sounds, but the tailpipe is a little far away... sounds awesome bouncing off walls and hondas, but I miss being able to crack the driver's window and get to hear the whole symphony!!!

looks sweet! I love the turnout stacks on a 1 ton... I didn't like how they looked on my SRW truck though

is your Y pipe slightly offcenter? mine was a "T" pipe and it was way offcenter... one stack smoked way earlier than the other... I'm definately planning a Y pipe and going to try to get it as close to center as possible!

I use a square tubing manifold and get equal exhaust both sides...Ben

 

Not sure who you were asking but mine is offset 1 bed rib. I wanted the peace of mind that comes with extra clearance by the drive shaft and fuel tank and it only took one extra elbow to do it this way. The smoke is "dead perfect" even from both stacks, no driverside lag at all. There is a picture pending in my gallery that shows the Donaldson and the elbows from underneath.

I'm not a big fan of the box tubing across the bed... I realize that it's cheaper and that it doesn't hurt flow, but something in me doesn't BELIEVE that it doesn't hurt flow, ya know?

Same here and I think the sound is totally different with box tube.

 

Richard, are those short radius or long radius elbows under the bed?
