I sprayed the underside of my hood with Line X. Looks great, guards the painted surfaces from the heat, and also acts as a noise suppressor.

you can order them direct from suncoast for $900. i am ordering one in a couple of weeks- for a couple of extra bucks, you get a functional ram air hood, instead of just a pretty one. NADP has put them on several high hp CTD's that they built up, and speaks very highly of them.

I plan on getting a srt-10 hood when i am done with performance and start on looks. I don't think that bit of functionality is worth it for me. I read a study that was conducted back when the Pontiac Firebirds came out with ram-air. The study showed that the max pressure reached inside the ducting was like 1/4psi and that was at top speed. At that level, power was increased by 5%, and anything less than 90% of top speed wasn't a measurable gain.

Obviously the scoop cools the air flow down, but In my book, thats not enough reason for me to pay upwards of 3x as much for the hood.

I don't know if because the hoods are plastic/fiberglass from Suncoast that they say it's functional or they're are just referring to gassers but, you can't use a functional hood on our trucks. There's no room. In a gasser there is but, in our trucks the valve cover is in the way. Plus, for $900, I would prefer a metal hood which the SRT 10 hood ( factory ) is.

As it's been mentioned also, the benefit is very little. I bearly get any rain in side the hood much less extra air.

the suncoast ram air hood actually channels the air from the scoop to the intake (unlike the srt, which is just an opening in the middle of the hood). it comes with a gasket that seals to the top of your factory airbox, or to the heat shield of your CAI. if you go to http://www.suncoastramairhoods.com/e...?productID=328, you can see the underside of the hood.

$1075 suncoast - $360 OEM does not = 200 bossman.

actually, I apologize if there is a mix up. I have a friend who works at the dodge dealership who said he would sell me one for $360. He may be giving me a deal. I assumed thats how much the OE's were.

Dealer list is 684 for the SRT-10 hood with the inserts. It can be purchased from dodgeparts.com for a good bit less but once you add shipping its well over dealer list. Plus if it shows up banged up you have to deal with shipping it back etc. etc. All in all it cost me $1088 hood, painted, installed + tax.

I have never seen an aftermarket hood fit like OEM. Mismatched body lines bug the crap out of me, no matter how functional the scoop is.

have you seen a suncoast that didn't look 'right'? if you have, that might have me thinking twice about ordering one.

Here is the best fitting aftermarket hood I have seen.... but still is not 100% http://www.keystonerestyling.com/

I dont know if I have ever seen a suncoast hood, I cant remember. Living so close to the Carlisle car shows ( I have been going to tons of them for the last 15 years) I get to see a lot of different stuff and some are very close... but you usually find a great body shop spent a lot of hours getting everything to line up.

I had to adjust the hood stop on the passenger side 1/2 turn. 5 min. max.

i used to go to the corvette show and swap meet in Carlisle every year, when i had my '75 stingray. bought a brand new interior and full dual stainless exhaust for less than half of what i would have paid elsewhere. great way to spend a weekend...... and a lot of money!

I will have to say that this Dodge SRT-10 hoods lines match great. I was a little worried that they were gonna put an aftermarket hood on anyway. I'm not certain what the final price was, it was ordered from ratl ratl on here. Thanks again DZ and ratl ratl for the help!! It looks awesome, and my co-workers and neighbors are green with envy, course they have Fords. But one liked it so much he went to trade in his Super Duty on an 08 CTD and specifically told them to put this hood on it hehe. He is still jealous cuz they wouldn't give him anything on his trade in hehe.
