Spray In Bed Liner

Any hints on getting a Spray in bed liner?
Is one brand better than another?
Any problems with peeling, Chalking etc?
How well do they hold up in Hot and HUMID?

Everyone has different opinions on this....and I have different opinions all by myself....so I'll just say this.

Go with Line-X or Rhino. Before you decide, find a truck with each and see which one you like better. Both come with a lifetime warranty, the quality of both depends more on the installer than the product, both do a great job of protecting the bed and both will cost you a pretty penny.

Line-X is a hot application that hardens when it cures. Rhino is a cold application that has more of a spongy feel to it when cured. The Rhino is said to have better grip, but the Line-X is said to be better for sliding things in and out of your truck.

Basically, Rhino is more rubbery and Line-X is more plasticy. Just figure out which one you like.

You can also find the Herculiner do it yourself kit....just be sure not to get it on your hootus.

Also...that nasty humidity down your way won't have any affect on the liner. The biggest effect from weather is the sun, as both are known to fade with time.

Personally, I like Line-X, but I'd take Rhino if it were given to me.

Hoped to jump in whith a somewhat related question.

Any preferences on over the rail vs. under the rail?

How is it going to look if I add a shell later?

Re:Spray In Bed Liner

I just got my 04 line-x'ed last week. Its awesome. I went over the rails, because when you are loading things in and out, the rails will get scratched up otherwise. So far it's great. I've always heard Rhino is more slippery, and can tend to clump when installed because it's not installed as hot as line-x. I do know that it seems like pretty tough stuff and looks great. Thumbs up for linex.

Re:Spray In Bed Liner

I got an over the rail liner sprayed in the first week that I had my truck. I got it for $399, and I have a long bed. I dickered with the guy for a little while...he started off at $459. Mine is called "Arma Coating." I'm not sure what areas they are in, but I pesonally know the owner. He is a chemical engineer, who actually developed the hot sprayed on product while designing roofing products. After he had developed his product, some of the investors that he was working with decided to part ways, and were going to sell this product as Armor-X, but they decided on...Line-X. There were some legal struggles, etc...but to make a long story short, this guy developed the original Line-X product, and he has continued developing his own stuff, and has a 150 or so stores nationwide. Check them out. www.armacoatings.com

Sorry to get so lengthy here. I just had a GREAT experience with these people, and I want to give them my highest recommendation.

One other thing...

In reality, any of these products will suit you well, and give you a lifetime warranty. Visit the local installers, and ask to see some of their work. That's what made up my mind for me. The local Line-X guy was like 19 years old, and had very little business. On the other hand, the Arma people that I went through did about 8 or 10 times the business and had a much nicer shop...and their installations were flawless...no overspray anywhere and laser straight lines. Your mileage may vary depending on your local franchise.

Re:Spray In Bed Liner

I went with line-x in my current truck. I've had both Rhino and Line-X in previous trucks and prefered the Line-X, and I prefer over the rail.

As previously stated the Rhino is a bit softer and the Line-X has more slip.

Headbanger - the linex guy told me a different story, saying the linex guy invented the formula, and that guy you are referring to changed one molecule and called it his own formula. Who knows, none of them have a straight story. Either way, the line x is great so far, and I'm sure the other stuff is similar. Mcdonalds and Burger king both have french fries, and they'll give you the same heart attack

Quite possible, I guess...but did you talk to the owner of the company, or just a franchise owner?

Armorthane

I had ArmorThane sprayed in mine and really like it. It's thicker, has a nice glossy finish and easier to clean. Downside compared to my Line-X in my last truck is it seems to gouge a bit easier when sliding sharp heavy objects across it.

Actually, Line-X is more slippery. Rhino is like rubber...and it's softer. It grips well enough that it can be hard to slide stuff in and out of your bed.
