Smarty S-06 Installed!

First, I'd like to thank Bob Wagner for getting me the programmer, and for his great customer service! He really is a top notch individual!

Recieved my Smarty on Friday late afternoon. I spent some time familiarizing myself with it, and went to Mads Electronics web page, and downloaded the December updates for my truck. Installed the file I intended to use on my Smarty and then my truck, which was the Stock Turbo, stock injectors Mild Torque management (SMT4V411AD211A47). All I can say is it is everything it is cracked up to be and MORE! I am EXTREMELY pleased with this product, and SO HAPPY I listened to the wise advice of the members here, to save my money and buy this product!

The best part about my situation now, is as my truck continues to evolve into the machine I want, I'll NEVER outgrow the Smarty!

Thanks again Bob and Marco!

Is it really a good idea for the aftermarket turbo program without a better turbo and studs? I tried my buddies Smarty on aftermarket turbo setting before I bought mine and I could jump up to 40 psi fairly easily on mild TM setting 3. Pretty scary to me....

I think it's a matter of preference / level of conservatism.....I have beta 4.4 (spools pretty wicked)....i run with a stock turbo.....it get's to 40psi pretty quick, but doesnt really exceed that the way i drive....there's been a ton of people (including quad) that say it's not a big deal for a stock turbo....others say the opposite....

And from what i've seen, most dont think you need studs until you get to the high 40's low 50s+ on the boost....i've never seen my smarty exceed 40psi...but i don't drive like a mad man either.

In the end, your right foot controls the boost, so it's up to you....fwiw, i didnt use the aftermarket turbo sw on my standard software....just did with the beta 4.4 as that's all it came with....won't go back to 32psi....

So will the aftermarket turbo program just remove the wastegate control altogether?

Quad has said many times that the 04.5-07 turbo is not very far at all out of its efficiency map at 40 psi. I'm just afraid it'll go higher than that, explode and force me to buy twins...

Right now I don't need the extra cooling because I'm using SW1 and could probably get by on SW3 but to really have fun on anything higher I'm going to need something.

I really would like to grow more in the future so if this would be a good stopgap measure till bigger turbos came along that would be fine if I knew I wouldnt grenade my stock turbo.

Yes, removes wastegate control....like a quad boost fooler...no way to set limit...

Quad has said that, that (and no option on beta 4.4) is what got me to change.....i wouldnt worry about exceeding 40psi, i think that's controlable....on beta 4.4 level 9 (which is very agressive), i can keep it to 40psi with little effort (and it's cold here in AZ, so boost is definately up vs. summer as there's lots more cooler air)....it's been a while since i used the stock software, but i think they're the same.....i suppose in the end, i want a new turbo (62/13)...so i'm not too concerned, but i really don't anticipate an issue given how many people i see on here running the aftermarket turbo software, quad boost fooler,...with very few if any turbo deaths reported.
