Even numbers on the SmartyCR don't have any additional timing, you'll want to use an odd number to get the benefits of additional timing.

I tow a Raptor 3612ds. I tow with my Smarty on 3 and EGTs are pretty good. My EGTs are post turbo but the highest I see is about 900. That is climbing with overdrive. As soon as I switch OD off my EGTs drop to 750ish.

You may want to download the latest version of the Smarty software and check your settings try running switch 1 or 3 (30hp or 60hp with timing) I'm not sure what level 2 with timing means.

You need to use level 1 or level 3 (or any odd # software) to get additional timing.....

Level 2 (or any even # software) = more fuel, no additional timing = higher egt's....meant to be used with another method that adds timing...

Software number One,
The Fuel Saver software. Mpg gains vary, in most cases a + 2Mpg has been reported. Please note that the timing in this software is rather aggressive.
HEAVY TOWING is not recommended with this software.

The setting for fuel saver are not available for the 06-07 version. For Huntsalot's year switch 1 is +30 with timing and switch 3 is +60 with timing.

Bob Wagner posted somewhere (either here on on TDR) that towing w/ Smarty on 1 on was ok on CR engines. Not ok for earlier models.

Shane-

you still need some airbags!!

#1 fuel saver is for second gens i think. huntsalot-listen to everyone here and tow on an odd number. 3 or 5 and report your egst, they will be alot lower

ive towed a trailer on sw9 and I had no issues at all. I didnt try to see how hot my egts would get either. I have a tandem axle car trailer and it pulls that like its not there at all. I wouldnt do this with a stock transmission. I think it would destroy it.
