I have been reading the post by some guys and see that they have listed that they have removed the silencer ring. my question is what is the silencer ring and what will help me do?

 

it's just what it sounds like, it quiets down the turbo just a tad. You will notice more of a difference with a good intake set up. No performance gains or losses that I know of. It's located right where the intake tube clamps to the turbo. Pull off your intake a you will be a slightly conical shaped piece of tin just inside of the turbo housing. It is held in by a C clip that you can take out with a small screw driver. After you remove the C clip (retaining clip) the silencer pulls right out. You can do it in about 10 minutes. The C clip is "slash" cut so you can only get ahold of one end of it. Feel around with your fingers and you can feel a point on one end of the retaining clip. Get a small screw driver under that point and pull it out. It's a bit tricky at first but once you get it out you'll be mad at yourself for swearing the last 10 minutes you spent getting it out of there.
