Should I "Reflash" the ECM?

I have never taken my truck back to the dealer since purchased back in Jan of 05. I understand there are some reflashes for the ECM and I'm debating whether or not to take it in to have it reflashed. The truck runs great!! If I do take this in will I need to remove all the goodies (Edge J/A, Shift Enhancer) the truck in OUT of Waranty. Any help would be great!!

Theres guys that know allot more on here about it but i know some computer upgrades leave a footprint in the computer. Good luck.

if it ain't broke don't fix it. My 04.5 had a MPG improving reflash that didn;t improve my MPG at all. I wouldn't mess with it.

I could care less about the dealer seeing the Edge again the truck is out of waranty. I was hoping that they might have a reflash for the shifting program on the 05's

I just had mine done. No difference in the shifting program. It still can be harsh 3-4th lockup if that is what you are talking about. Just drive around it. I still do. My ECM was reflashed a week ago with the latest flash so my manual high idle would work.

I was told that some downloaders will not work as good if you have a recent reflash. This is what I was told from Bullydog. My truck was reflashed when I had an injector issue and after I put the Crazy Larry back in It didn't seem to run as strong. But maybe it's just the Tri-Dog.

Thats what I was hoping the reflash would help. I see a billet input in the very near future.

No worries on the horn honk. They have to flash the BCM and PCM for that to work. Tech at my dealer hates the horn honking crude. Hence, Oh you don't have to worry about that thank goodness.

When does your tranny do it. Pulling a heavy load? If mine shifts to 4th quick and I am not in the throttle enough it will shift hard. Either let off before it locks or make sure you are on the go pedal harder so your speed is above 45 MPH when you go in 4th. Takes practice but after a while you will get the hang of it.

When towing heavy I learned real quick on how to do the 3/4 shift. My problem is that the T/C locks to low in the RPM range for heavy towing (around 50 mph) and sometimes it dont lock in till 60 mph which is what I prefer. Its hell on a turbo when it locks up at 50 while pullin a heavy load. I did notice that it shifts better with the tow/haul mode on. Just don't forget to turn it back off when you get to cruising speed or you get one hell of a shift when slowing back down.
