if you go with the aem get the Workhorse or the now called AEM Brute Force HD. Make sure it says "HD" included so you will get the larger filter with deeper pleats.

I am very, very pleased with my truck's AEM Workhorse HD kit.

Jeg's screwed up and I ended up paying about $245. I would have bought it anyways, but the $245 price was ever better.

The S&B kit is also very nice, but I wanted to limit the amount of plastic on my truck and also really wanted an oil-free air filter.

Either way you decide to go, both are very good kits

I have had the AEM workhorse for a year now. No complaints at all. Fit great and install took about 45 minutes. I have the polished version and every time I pop the hood that is the first thing everyone looks at. It looks good, but does scratch easy. Turbo whistle is very loud especially with my 64/13 .

I bought the S&B from another member here that included an amsoil dry filter. The mounting was a little bit of a pain due to the use of the factory mounts on the bottom of the box. The other thing that I wonder about is the opening in the side that lines up with the factory hole in the inner fender come up past the hood line. How much water can pass between the hood and fender to be sucked into the filter?

Other than that, everything seems ok. The whistle doesn't seem too bad inside the cab with the windows up. You can really hear it when passing someone and running pass 2600 rpm's and up.

I love the 5", both for the sound and performance.

With the AFE Bladerunner, air flows in a great level!

With the silencer ring removed, everything combined sounds awesome!

I am very pleased with all the mods........

I've had my S&B Intake for over a year now...with almost 70k with it on the truck. It was a great fit and everything really seems to be high quality. I have since switched to an Amsoil dry filter and just keep the S&B filter as a spare.

The whistle is as loud as any other kit I've heard (K&N, AFE, AEM). I recently removed the silencer ring and it sounds like a jet taking off now! Its pretty awesome. Also, when I removed everything to take my silencer ring out...the intake tube and turbine wheel was spotless!

If you're worried about a lil' water splashing in the opening in the side of the box....just throw on an Outerwear onto the filter. I have one on the Amsoil filter and the filter says clean for a long time!

I think you can't beat the S&B Intake for the quality and price!

I have the AEM Workhorse and it went on well, fits good, looks nice, and sounds great! I was very surprised at the volume of whistle after the install.

I have a question....

I bought a Scotty 5 a couple a years ago because it was supposed to be the "best". However, the filter is a PITA to clean, etc... I am really liking the looks of the AEM HD Bruteforce (Workhorse). Can anyone tell me... Is the AEM better than the Scotty 5.

I am just trying to justify to myself spending the $350 for the AEM.

BTW.. Thanks D45 for posting those picts. You suck . You are making me want one now.

I wouldn't spend another $350. The Scotty is supposed to be an awesome setup. I'd just deal with the cleaning hassle and spend that money elsewhere.

Did you put on the new style S&B intake? What are the dimensions of the filter? The new part# is 75-5033.
