the race cover utilizes a slip-on boot connection... whereas the regular S400 uses a v-band connection. also, I don't really think the race cover comes into play untill you get into the 80+mm compressor wheel.

Help me out here... whats a race cover?
|
A race cover is a slightly larger AR (.66) John Deere cover with a 3" hose outlet as opposed to the standard 171702 cover (.63) which is a 4.21" v-band outlet.
|
How much air/min and or HP is the race cover worth? I thought the race cover had a center bore to accept an 80mm compressor, whereas the 171702 is for the 74 or 76mm compressor inducer.
Idaho, I know you're the turbo man so correct my assumptions above please. |
You can go up to a 80mm on the standard cover but the inner ring get's thin. The race cover can go upwards of 88mm. It dpends on who you talk to about hp gains. The AR isn't that different between the two so I wouldn't give the race cover a huge edge in hp potential.

Yes the ring does get thin...I have one:D
