Rev Limiter
Evenin, DTR...
I was wondering... isin't there a rev limiter on our trucks? Reason I ask, this evening, a Ford pulls up behind me on base and gives me a good rev... so I return the favor, I popped the truck in N and hit it... but it hung around 3500 RPM's, and stayed there with my foot off the pedal... I dropped it in gear and hit the brake, no worries there. It didn't feel like it had stuck, my hand had already went for the key...
I checked my edge when I got home... 3645 RPM's!! Not my idea of a good evening, I think I was lucky.
Ok... just wondering. Guess I won't be doing that again...
Later...
mad

It hung up because the RP spiked and it can take a second to bleed the pressure off when you let off the throttle. From what I've read it shouldn't hurt anything being the engine wasn't under load and there was no boost built up..I have had this happen a couple times at the drag strip when I've missed a gear.Really sucks having to wait for the rpm's to come down to grab the next gear while some guy in the other lane is giving you a spanking!
