Thumbs up Re-calibrate for 315s

Have you guys that switched to 315s, from the 265s, re-calibrated your speedos yet? I think it has to be done by the dealer and the revolutions per mile known. How did it go?
Also, how much different does the truck drive with the bigger meats?

Thanks, Wetspirit

Re-Program

I had the programming redone when i put my 315s on. Speed is bang on. Some on the forum said some dealers will do it for free. I think mine charged me $20 CDN.

I don't like to go to the dealership unless I really have to -- I installed a Superlift TruSpeed Calibrator (http://www.superlift.com/products/misc/truspeed.asp)
when I put on my 315s. I used my handheld GPS and got my speedo exactly on (took a trip from San Diego to Dallas and the odometer disagreed with the GPS by only 4 miles over the 1300 miles). The Calibrator has a switch to allow you to have 2 different settings -- you can have one setting for summer tires and one for winter for example. Or you can throw your OEM tires back on and just switch to the second setting instead of going back to the dealer for another recalibration. Costs more that having the dealer do it, but I like the flexibility and not having to go to the dealership.

The truck drives great with the 315s. I haven't had my speedo recalibrated yet, and I'm thinking I won't. I'm used to adding 10% now, and my 100,000 mile warranty is now a 110,000 mile warranty

Dealer did mine for $32.50.

The Revolutions per mile for the 315's is 601 at 45mph....that's what the tech's need to know...The dealers call it "resetting the Pinion Factor". Guess it's set correctly, haven't been pulled over for speeding yet...

Had my done, 60 was 59.2 with the 315's, now I have the 325/65/18's on and its perfect, go figure......

Palmer Dodge on the Northside of Indy is great, no worries, ask for John in service. The diesel tech also does Prowlers and Vipers. Excellent and careful.
