I put mine about center under the steering wheel on the panel about 5" or so.

I had mine in behind the knee bolster. It was stealth but difficult to use so today I put it in the piece directly to the right of the steering. Not real stealth but easier to get too.

I'm sure I screwed this up but I'm trying. I mounted mine above the parking brake release. Not stealth, but I wasn't worried about that. Easy access!

Mine is to the right of the steering wheel in the flat spot. Who cares about stealth anyway? If you are worried about the dealer I am sure they will see the **** harness under the hood if they look. Tell them is is a rheostat light switch

wagonhauler,

I considered an ashtray mount but, decided against it and am glad I did - I like having real easy access to turn it up if some ricer pulls up beside me
I mounted mine on the panel just to the left of the steering wheel, not stealth but easy to see and get to, I became my own warranty station long ago
