Quieter Exhaust

I took my 51 inch nelson off ,put on a #8992 Flo Pro which is a slight improvement in tone.Has anyone tried a resonator behind the muffler to quiet it down some more?

I don't know if this helps, but I've only heard of a resinator before the muffler.

Did you take the cat off? Why was it loud with the Nelson? After installing my Nelson, the truck was quieter than stock.

You can put any type of extra muffler or resonator on there and it will quiet it down. Putting a resonator up near the front of the truck helps with getting rid of drone. Megacabs have a resonator in the tailpipe....
I have two mufflers on my truck. One up front and one in back....

I do a fair bit of in town driving, the nelson was quieter under load ,but noiser around town, the flo pro is just the opposite,i have lots of room ,so might try the resonator in front.

Summit 4" glass pack....

I just got my truck about a yr ago. Guy before me had a straight 4" ran from turbo back. Was pretty annoying on the highway. I too looked into resonators, but though about the way we use to quiet stuff down back home enough to keep the neighbors off our backs. I got a 4" glass packed race exhaust from summit. It keep the deep throut sound but deaden enough to keep the cab comfortable. It was only about 60.00 to the door. Made it alot easier to try...LOL

I actually love my 51" Donaldson it's so Quiet now I hear the injector/timing rattle from my beloved Smarty power.I took a Magnaflow off prior to the 51" it wasn't bad but towing it gets old .Now the Twins sucking in make more noise than the exhaust .

I put the magnaflow in front, flo pro in back, very very nice. You can walk around the truck talk and be heard. It took a lot of the injector rattle out as well.It will smoke now with aggressive fueling on the edge, so i just set her back, that cleaned it up.Obviously a little more back pressure.Yep i,m a happy camper.

The aeroturbine resonated muffler apparently is the best bolt on muffler. Thats what i was going to get, but I love my silverline 5 inch.

I am running a tailpipe off a mega-cab, it has a resonator built in. Its straight thru, so it wont effect flow and it really helped the tone/volume.
