Question About Quadzilla Performance Modules

I'm thinking of using some extra Christmas money to get a Quadzilla 30-60-100 or 60-100-140 module for my '03 HO.

I never tow and I always run empty. My truck is a commuter truck and a family truck. Most all of it's time is spent on the highway and around town.

That said, I don't have gauges and currently have no plans to get any. I just want it to GO when I hit the go pedal, and probably just in short bursts since I typically obey speed limits.

Am I taking a huge risk if I run either of these modules without gauges?? I DO have a BHAF and a 4" exhaust.

Just get one that gives you about 65 HP and you will be fine. Quad has the Tow model, Edge has the EZ which is the one that I am going to buy.

I say go for it and get the standard (30-60-100). I run mine on the 60 h.p. setting all the time and never get into trouble while unloaded and only needed to lift once while towing.

I chose the STD (30-60-100) so I would have the ranges on the fly. Thought the 30 would be a great addition for towing, the 60 would be for the go power. I too drive within the speed limits and am usually in the conservative mode behind the wheel. I have gauges, so I feel comfortable with the addition. You might want to consider adding the Commander or gauges. Will give you something new to watch, break up the monotony. Have fun, enjoy.

I'd like to get around 100 hp. I had the Edge EZ before and kept it on Level 3, which was 70 HP. It was nice, but I want a little more. 100 hp would be nice. Having the option to go to 140 would be even better. 30 and 60 don't really interest me but it's better than stock.

Does anyone know the torque numbers that these two modules add? All I've seen is HP.

I assume that normal driving in the 100-140 hp range isn't going to hurt anything. It's only the times when I'd get a little giddy with it that I'd have to be concerned.

Thoughts??

160 Quad

I put the Quad 140 box on my truck as soon as I got it and no problems yet . I thin upgrade to the race box 160HP and not one problem.knock on wood. But I do tow and run the ricers just to show um the OLD man still dumb at hart.
Have fun with the new box and look @ the Commander from Quad.

Personally I would install gauges. But with that said, no towing those boxes should be safe. Might also want to install an adjustable boost elbow for a little extra boost to bring down the EGTs.
BTW, I'm running the SMARTY at 90hp + timing and my EGTs is right at 1250 WOT. But that's not towing either.

I assume even on the 140 HP setting if I'm just cruising down the highway at 70 mph then I don't really have to worry about EGT's. The only time I'd have to worry about them is when I really get on it. Is that correct?

Regarding boost, does the Quadzilla not do boost fooling like my Edge EZ used to? If not, couldn't I just install one of the boost elbows that came with the EZ to get more boost? I'm sure I could get one from Edge for pretty cheap.

Hoss, here are some numbers from last week. I have quad race and amsoil dry drop in nanofiber (which does not pull minder down). Only other thing is Walbro from GDP and better Muffler. This is on a 50 K dollar dyno not a dynojet. Of course these are at rear wheels. We did not know exact weight of truck so just guessed 7400 lbs. But this should give you something to go on.

Stock - -275 HP ----496 Ft. Lbs. Torque
Level 3(140hp) 383 HP - ----697 Torque
Level 2 tow mode (should be same as xzt I have, used 1 tank and got race module.....Level 2-------350HP -------644 Torque. As you can see, the tow mode does pretty dang good. Someone told me these numbers looked low, but it WILL haul the mail. Only thing I don't like about the Quad is the rattling, I guess it changes timing and detonation sequence. Does anyone know if this is damaging in any way, my guess is no, it just makes it sound like a diesel of old. I am going to put my xzt in classifieds this weekend, if anyone is interested.. Good Luck Hoss, hopes this helps you some. I would later get an EGT at least------- cause you are adding about 150 ft lbs. even with tow module.

Hoss I get 38 and have seen 40 lbs of boost. That is really calling on it and about 3400 rpm and egts went up to ? 1550 for 3 or 4 seconds. But to answer your question you could put it on 140 and cruise down the road empty with no problems.-- Maybe you are more mature than me, I just have to stomp it and hold it there sometimes. Fun rowing thru gears up into red part too. Only about 3400, and not very often. Someone else gave you good advice -----get a Commander, I Love mine. (Even though the FP has never worked)

That's some good info Nelrod. Your "Level 2" numbers...that's the 100 HP setting, right??

I may add an EGT and Boost gauge at some point, but not right now.

As far as RPM's go, I've only gone into the red a couple of times. I figure it's red for a reason.

I still have some questions about boost though. I read that the wastegate on my '03 turbo has to be modified to increase the boost, but I don't really know that means or how it has to be modified.

Thanks for the offer, but the other thread going on about Bully Dog right now kind of has be shying away from anything BD makes. I've tried Edge. I think I'm most interested in Quad right now. I appreciate the offer though.
