quadzilla Xzillaraider
ok what about it running crapy and i know its not in every situation, but there have been a few people who bought it and said they are junk? i personally dont know never ran it but from what i read why would i put this in my truck is this is what people are saying. from what i have read everyone on this forum(for the most part) swears by the smarty?
I have not seen one post anywhere, ever that said they were junk. There were a few download problems, but all that has been cleared up 100%. The Smarty is a good unit as well, but completely different. One is a module & one is a downloader. One cost about $425, the other cost about $700. X2 is tune on the fly, Smarty you have to do a different program in the ECM when you want to change it. They both have their + & - but neither are junk.
yes, i agree lfd i can see that they are both reputable products, but i am trying to weigh my options on weather to run the chip or not, and a few people complaining about something is enough for me to start to question the product. i am also wating for a response from Quad on this forum about his product. Other then that people are also saying that the quadzilla makes the EGT's go way way up which concerns me because we all know on this forum that is where problems start to occur(when egt's get high)...
If anything......the X2 has lowered my EGT's. The biggest complaint I hear about smarty is failure to have self control! You can and WILL break stuff without all of the supporting modifications! I have several of quad's products, and can say without a doubt, quad's team will do whatever ( within reason of course ) it takes to make you a satisfied customer. I still can't get past the fact that every time I call I get a LIVE PERSON!!!! I don't have any personal experience with SMARTY, but hopefully my experience with quadzilla products will help ease some of your doubts. Quad is one heck of a busy man and gets on here as much as possible, but it has been less lately. Lots of new products and downloads I guess!
ok once again i dont think that i have the X2 i just boought the xzilliraider..... the egts numbers are high from what i hear.. on the xzilliraider...i am sure quad is a busy guy and i dont expect him to reply to this in one day.. if i was in a hurry i would have called... i guess you can say i am just a little worried about the warrenty and th eissues i have read and what people have responde3d to me in the PM's all in all i dont think i will install the product.
Sorry.....I started off with the Xzillaraider, then upgraded to the X2 and am actually a beta tester now . Never had high egt's with either one. What some people don't realize is that the egt's are naturally higher on the 04.5 and up trucks. They are also built to handle it better with better cooling nozzles in the block for the pistons. Not trying to sway your decision either way, just want to make sure you are well informed. ( with what knowledge I have - may not be enough! LOL ) Quad's products are undetectable to the dealer as long as they are removed before a dealer visit. Smarty claims to be invisible to the dealer, but from what I hear thru the grapevine ( I have some friends that 1 works for Cummins as an engineer, and another at Dodge as an engineer ) is that they are working on a software to detect any unauthorized flash updates. Whether or not that is true will be left to be seen. I believe that is how the Smarty is installed. In the same fashion as a factory flash update. One thing about it.........with either one, you'll be the determining factor on how hot the egt's get. You'll need a close eye on the guage for awhile to see how your truck reacts.
On a side note.....I am curious as to why someone would send you a PM warning of high egt's and such without posting a problem on here, or have their own thread. Not saying it isn't possible, but just nearly unheard of.

sorry vz dude i should have clarified someone did not pm me, he responde3d to my PM in why he regrets the quadzilla products, it was a post on here saying what everyone regrets and he posted the quadzilla, so i pm 'd him to ask why, yeah sory about that i did not make it to clear. and here now from what i have read from wildwood i am really second guessing this product.
i am in no way trying to bash quad or his product, since i have never used any programmer so nothing to compare it to and have not installed his, its just the more and more reasearch i do i dont think ANY chip or PROGRAMER will be installed in my truck i guess you can say i wanted to join the bandwagon but had a change of heart. if anyone w3ants it PM me...
The key word is MIGHT, i dont think that is a risk i am willing to take considering i am still in college and i dont have much time/ money to fix something that i should have never installed. a sub-par product is just not in my cards. i was under the impression this was the BEST chip/programmer out there and upon more reaserch this forum has helped me from making what could be a very big mistake on my part.. thanks for all of the input wildwood thaks for telling me your experience with this product... same with everyone else i value your opinion.
onealowfz, why don't you drive an 06 that has one and see how you like it. I have the Commander and race module for several thousand miles. I like being able to punch a button and add 200 ft.lbs. of torque and 110 extra hp. That is level 3 and I have dynoed it. Also like being able to put it on level 1 to tow if I want. Most of time I have it on level 0 which of course is stock. I love mine and have had good service from it. I don't doubt that wildwood had the kind of trouble he had, as anything can happen to anybody and that is kind of luck I sometimes have. I would say that is probably an aberration though, as for every problem, 99 other people love it. What do you want the box to do for you? Did you see the owner of companys comment a few comments back. Sounds like you are very conservative, so you may want to just sell it if you are that worried about running it. Stock You have about 275 HP and 500 ft.lbs. of torque. That's what my 06 did with the manual. Not bad for stock. Oh, BTW, what did you do to your tranny and why since engine is stock? Good luck.
I just read your last post, I did not know you were in college. Man, when I was in college I drove a VW (glad I had it too). I would say not put the box on then. With extra power, extra headaches can come in form of wear and tear and breakage, I would wait till I was out of school, then you can re-visit this question you are wrestling with. Good luck, stay in school and finish. Oh, I still drive a VW to work. 35-37 mpg in town. 4 Cyl. turbo-direct-injection diesel. Oh, Quadzilla is definitenly NOT A SUBPRODUCT. You should be able to sell it, they have a stellar reputation, I had an xzt and wanted more power and sold it easily on here just by mentioning it in one of my posts.
i did nothing to my tranny? thing is completly stock my truck is stock for the most part. the only things i have done to it are guages becasuse i am scared of the weak tranny on these things and plus they look cool, and intake and a muffler delete. I understand their will always be 2 sides to a story and for every 100 people that love the product and it has never failed them for one that has nothing but problems. with my luck i will be that one. i guess it is something i should have reaserched more before spending $425 on lol lesson learned. when first looking into the box i thought it would make reliable hp, but after reading some horror stories i think i can do with out it, i have had this truck for a year and not a single problem and i want to keep it that way but then again i only have about 9k mi on her. i guess i can spend that money on some rims.. lol thanks for all input
First and foremost, if you are that worried and that paranoid, DO NOT put ANYTHING on the truck.
The second you do you will hear a noise, feel every crack in the road and you will be driving without the radio and A/C on. iF it really bothers you that bad, don't install anything.
You have to be a little careful with the internet. People get on here and do things and act in ways thy would not do in person. That is the joy of the internet.
It is a real pain for me. People know if they have a problem, think they have a problem, want an answer or want to comment, they do it on here because I am here and I listen to it. For the most part no other manufacturer spends the time to do it so you re not going to hear as much because there is no point. Instead of typing on here they are calling somewhere. So take what you read with a grain of salt. Look at overall things, not specific things.
I mean if you go over to a Ford site and they all say Dodge is total junk, is it true??
I also think it is funny that Wildwood, owning a 2000 model truck, likes to come over to the 3rd gen section. That sort of just proves what I said above. If he started that over int he 2nd gen forum they would laugh him out of the forum.

I think your correct qzilla, i am a little paranoid but i think owning a $35-45k truck at the age of 23 justifies that and still being in college with limited money right now, like i said in a privios post i am in no way bashing on you nor your product i would not do that on here even if i had a problem with it i would have called. from what i have read there are many people who love your product and little who have had problems(i just cant afford/dont want to be that rare case) so i will take your advice and not put anything on the truck. maybe one day dodge will come out with a truck that has 1000hp and 2500ft lbs and that will solve everyone's problems of wanting more... hey guys thanks for all the input
For those of you that havent had problems great, but if i had to do it all over again i would spend the extra money and buy Bully dog, Edge, even Banks before buying quad products. and as soon as my bully dog stuff comes in quads crap is getting trashed. now all you cheerleaders, donky kissers can start bashing me. OOOOOOOOOOO well.
