Quad vs. Smarty

So I'm wanting to add some power to the new ride and i'm torn between the Quad race box with commander or the smarty. I was completely sold on the Quad box w/commander but i've been hearing all this good stuff about the power the smarty makes now I'm not sure.

Is the smarty a downloader or is it like the quad box where when you take it off the truck the dealer doesn't know you had it on there. This way your warranty doesn't get void?

thanks in advance for the info..

the quad is a plug in module with on the fly adjustibilty. it can be removed in 5 minutes with no indication of being there.

the smarty is a downloader, you have to chose the power level to download to the ecm, takes under 3 minutes to program. no on the fly adjust. when removed it is undetectable on 99.9999% of the truck.(lets not get started again please) it can erase codes, correct for tire size changes, and be shared to other trucks 1 at a time.

I have both, and love the both of them. Great products as far as i am concerned.

Humm,

they both sound very good. Do you stack them? If so, to have the best of both worlds, would it be too much for a stock truck (see sig) if I were to stack them?

thx

yes i stack them. stock truck, you will have MAJOR clutch issues. egts will be through the roof. the power and smoke will be great though. until either slip or boom.

if you get the quad with commander, then gauges are a non issue.

with smarty, you will have to get gauges of some form.

smarty software is called catcher. stands for clutch and traction challenger.

Thumbs up

i have run the quad race for over 1 1/2 years now with no trouble, smooth power, the egts are good with the aftermarket turbo. very good module.

If I had to choose one, and I have BOTH, but if I could only use one, it would be the Smarty. Lower egts and I would think it's easier on injectors. The Smarty is also endlessly upgradable, who knows what all we'll be able to do w/ it soon.

i have the quad xzt and was thinking about my next purchase being the commander and a smarty to stack. From what I read, the quad and smarty stack well, as long as you have some self control and watch the EGT's and go easy on your tranny. (obviously i'd have to keep my smarty on a low setting until i can afford the rest of the upgrades)

that is a good idea. you'll love botht the smarty and the quad. i believe the smarty is going to kill your clutch really soon. unless you are absolutely not going to go over level 5, you'll slip that stock clutch.
just be careful until you upgrade the clutch. get your smarty, commander, quad, and clutch at the dtr store and support the site.
