Putco Nerf bar install - any hints?

I just received my Putco wheel-to-wheel nerf bars yesterday. Hopefully, Sunday will the be the day to install them. Any tips or hints from anyone who has done it? About how long should it take?

Thanks,
Neil

I just installed a set of Luverne bars on my truck, 2 days ago. Both bars took a total of 35 minutes. They bolted right to the cab mounts. Piece of Cake!

Yeah been there did that, both installed in less than three hours. I started with the wrong instructions then went to their web site and downloaded the correct ones. No drilling, just have to slide the bent bolts into the slots, then tighten them up while keeping them inside their respective slot. Feel free to PM me with questions. Nat

Thanks for the tip. I'll see if I can find the instructions on their website. The ones that came with it are pretty ragged - not to mention that the box they came in looked like it had been through a train wreck. I hope it's all there. The parts box and bag were intact so here's hoping. The Yellow Freight guy made a note on the delivery receipt and told me to have Putco bill them for any missing parts. I just don't want the hassle.

I may take you up on the offer to PM you . . .

Thanks,
Neil

Just an update. I finally got around to installing my Putco boss bars (wheel to wheel nerf bars). Very nice construction and EASY to install. I don't think it took over an hour total and I took my time (laid out blankets to protect the finish on the bars, etc.). Just install 3 bolt plate goodies into the oblong holes in the rocker panels and two under the floor, mount two brackets and finally two bolts to hold on the bar (each side) and you're in business. Two observations:

1) Not much room for the toes on the far back where you step up to get into the bed.

2) The treads will be great for wet weather because they're really rough, but don't even think about stepping on them barefooted.

Time will tell on how the stainless finish will hold up. But the 4" tubing makes it look very sturdy and beefy. I think it's worth the extra coin.

Pics coming . . .

Neil

Thanks for the update Neil. Mine will be a year old soon and the finish is as shiny as the day they arrived. However they do scratch if you use the bar instead of the pads. Although my scratches aren't deep, one of these days I'll try some polishing rouge on them. Looking forward to the pics. Nat
