Programmer or stacked boxes??

If you have found a stack combo that you really like, is it nessacary to have a downlaoder too? I want to be within the 450-500HP range, but would like to do the rest with "mechanical" parts. Would it be better to go programmer or Injectors, CP3 Mod ect...? BTW I will be upgrading to a built suncoast tranny by December. I guess I'm basically asking do I need/will be better off going with a Smarty/Predator/Ect.., or skip it fand go mechanical for my goals?

Ive seen several guys that have tried to use no boxes and all of them I have seen eventually end up with atleast a couple. Heck you can make the HP your after pretty much just with the basic TST, mp-8, smarty combo. Or atleast so I hear. I dont have the tst yet nor have I dyno'd this thing yet. I guess it leads me to wonder what your really after with the "Hard Parts' route?

I made 468hp uncorrected with just the smarty. If you got say some Flux 1 (40hp) injectors from DonM, you could turn the smarty down to 5 or 7 and still be in that range. And at the same time, have more reliable injectors and probably better fuel mileage.

If you don't already have gauges, I'd go with the TST. That will get you in the range you want to be in very safely. Another benefit to the TST is it's compatability with almost anything else if you want to upgrade in the future. I love my smarty, but the TST made over 500 hp on the dyno with almost NO smoke. smarty = smokey. If you already have guages, the smarty would be the way to go.
