Problems w/ Rickson 19.5's?
Problems w/ Rickson 19.5's?
Just got a set of 7 Rickson black steel 19.5's after waiting for almost 3 months. Supposedly they're in a transition period now to set up for more in-house fabrication, hence the lag time. Anyhow, after the three month wait, my local supplier called to say he had them mounted, balanced and ready to install. Initially, and from a distance, they looked great, but after taking a closer look, I noticed the two outside duals have some really shoddy welds. Upon an even closer look, I found a few voids along w/ a bunch of spatter, like the welder was set way to hot. While I wasn't to thrilled to see a couple butt-ugly welds on a set of pricey rims such as these, now I'm worried about the structural integrety of these things. And this is just the two exposed welds out of the seven total. I hate to cause problems w/ my local tire/wheel guy, as I've known him for years as a fair and honest businessman, but if I'd ordered these wheels direct I would've sent them back as soon as I opened them up. Anyone else out there have any recent experience w/ Rickson wheel?
not yet iam looking into some as well and i am really interested in your situation they say at ricksons that all wheels are balanced beyond perfection and then tires add and done again so they should ride better than anything you have ever had on your truck but iam suprised that an exposed weld is bad and doubt that the integrity is hurt but still had to believe for about 4,000.00 dollars that that would happen Did ricksons not mount and balance the set!!!!
thanks
thanks
My local tire and wheel guy mounted the tires and balanced the set. He said they were spot on and he's a trustworthy guy. I got the wheels and tires through him at around a grand less than if I'd ordered them directly from Rickson myself (that included install and lifetime rotation.) Unfortunately, it seems like they kind of slapped these things together in a rush, as my tire guy was on them pretty hard to get the wheels shipped out, mostly to get me off his back over having to wait for so long. I was just hoping there would be someone out there who owns a set and could set my mind at ease that even though the welds may look shoddy, the wheels are well built and haven't caused any problems. I'll try to post a few pics this weekend.
