pre turbo for sure. either in the neck of the manifold right before it meets the turbo or between #3-#4 cylinders.

Probably get conflicting responses. Both of mine are pre turbo. Because I am running performance mods I want to know as close to real time what the EGTs are.

Some will say that post turbo is safer and numbers can be adjusted by a factor of xxx.

I don't think I have seen anyone post about loosing a pyro sensor pre turbo that caused turbo/engine damage. May be some, but I don't remember any in the last 3 years on the 3rd gens.

If you use the EGT gauge for towing or racing or just cool down, pre turbo will be more accurate. Just my .02.

Pre-turbo. Anywhere in the exhaust manifold will work.

Same here, pre for sure i have always herd that you gain 100 degrees for every 10lbs of boost but you need to know what is going into the turbo. Not what is coming out.

This is the 1st I've heard of a post-turbo EGT reading a higher value than a pre-turbo EGT. Perhaps you have that backwards?

Nah, he's talking about the front cylinders versus the back cylinders on the exhaust manifold. The rear cylinders are a little hotter than the front.

I run both pre and post on my 01' now and there is sometimes as much as 300-450 degrees difference between both guages. I run a Autometer in my pillar(post) and a TST Powermax R46 adjustable(pre). Pre turbo is the only way to fly!!!!
