Port and polished head

Ive tried looking around and cant find any specifics on porting these heads. Intake & Exhaust sizes etc.

I have only ever tried it one other time on some double hump chevys but it seemed to help. I have all of the tools to grind about anything by hand and some decent measuring tools so I thought I would try a it.

I know these machine shops get paid good to do this so no one wants to share their secrets but I thought some of you might have some experience with this. I'm thinking I need to stud my head pretty soon and was gonna do both.

Seems like another site I saw some pics one time but I cant find them now. Maybe it was TDR? Can I say that here?

There are three schools of thought on this. I gently ported and polished my head and I felt it made a difference.

ATS and others put in bigger valves and some only polish the runners in the head as their argument is that removing any material makes the head prone to cracking which 12v heads did .... alot. They also say with higher presssure forced induction the valves and cam are more important than the runners.

Others get big $$$ to port and polish....but they don't remove the integrated intake manifold so what they can do on the intake side is limited.

RayMac machines off the intake manifold to enable fully porting the intake runners and then taps the head to take a bolt on intake manifold....

F1 I think and a few others have worked on Extrude Honing the head.

The big thing is to have balanced flow in all the cylinders.

If I was doing it again....I'd put in bigger valves and extrude hone and balance the flows to make it worthwhile.

To gain the maximum benefit you need to have a high lift cam and flycut pistons.

Id like to do the cam now but that will have to come with time er money. I was just thinking if I could come up with the money for the studs and the a new gasket i'd go after it while it was off. ABC you got any ideas where I could get the bigger valves?

There is no room for bigger valves and seats on the 24v. On the 12v, you can go bigger on the exhaust side but that is it.
