i highly suggest getting the rails done. cause when your dog leans over with his colar on or someone that is wearing a jacket with a zipper it leaves scratches. thats why i like the rails done.

Guys thanks or all the input so far. One more question about holes in the box/bed. I have a few holes from the plastic liner as well as some 1/2 inch holes or so in the bed from a bed liner that used to be in there. Is aluminum tape or whatever they use good enough to cover these and then spray over top ?

Yeah, coming over the rails more will offer way more protection, but I don't load much over the rails so this was the best of both worlds for me. Even just another 1/4 to 1/2" lower would still look ok and give much more protection.
