Ok,Ok,...I give up on Toyo Mt's...need tire ideas.

I have 48k on my stock BFG's I used to tow alot, but never tow anything any more. I actually need to find someone local that needs something heavy towed a little ways. I need to put a nice strain on my truck to clean her out!

Ok, so initial impressions on the Firestone Destination AT. While not as agressive as the Pro Comp XAT's they replaced, they are a HECK of a lot smoother to ride on. I have the 315/70/17 load range E's and I am very happy with them so far. I only have a total of about 200 miles on them, so we will see how they do for wear. Right now I am running 60 psi all the way around, and that's only because the weather is not cooperating, so I can't do the tire chalk test to make sure they are wearing evenly. How are they holding up now? I recently saw that Firestone has a 315 and 285 in MT, and am considering them. I've also heard the 315 is a little shorter than other 315's, which might have me thinking about going up from the 285's that are on it now. Is your truck stock height, with the 315's? Rubbing issues?

Well, I just went through all this on my huntin buggy, you either need a road tire(ATs) or offroad tires(MTs) the only true ALL TERRAIN tires I've found is the Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ or the Procomp Extreme AT as discussed. All other ATs seem to be a joke if its at all wet. I just put these bad boys on my Trooper, they have 20/32s of tread depth and are AGGRESSIVE for an AT but they also say MT on the side of the tire... go figure

I've been hammering and I mean hammering my Hankook Dana Pro ATM's... I think there also $165 a tire at Discount tire.com... 
Hualing all my Elk hunting stuff, 2, 4 wheelers, tents everything you would need when out in "BFE" on and on, up and down dirt roads and HWY... I've had them for 9 months or so and haven't rotated them and the rears still look good! atleast 80%

I actually just went with the cooper STT's and they are pretty awesome. They are the MT's, and look alot like a Toyo. Supposively the same pattern but reversed, and 8-ply D rated, not E. However they ride much nicer than the Toyos, and being I don't tow heavy it hasn't really come into play.

I put a set of duratracs on yesterday, cheaper than 8 ply mickey (even though I usually spend the money) I decided to go for the 10 ply goodyear. they feel a little wobbly at speed like the nitto mud grapplers... but nowhere near as bad. they look like they will be great in snow! which has started here today. just my 2 pennies.

Look at the aggressiveness of the MT ATZ and the Procomp XAT and then look at a BFG, TOYO, NITTO, Cooper or any other AT. These 2 tires seem IMO to be a good middle of the road tire between a road tire and a mud tire. I guess I've just been too handycapped w/ some of these other ATs so I had to go to MTs so I wouldn't get stuck during the wet parts of the year and hunting seasons. With the ATZs I don't have to have two sets of tires and I dont have to deal with the noise and rough ride of a MT on the road. I'm just saying IMO these fit the term ALL TERRAIN much better. Also the tread depth of the ATZ is 20/32"s, no other ATs can say that.
