Could be

Your rear end, I know it doesnt seem feasible but if the pinion angle was off due to the angle of the leveling kit and wore the ring gear, even if you took it back to stock the angle again would be different on the ring gear and the wear would be the opposite direction now.

I would definatley check this out

The wear pattern on the R&P wont change because of the blocks. The pinon angle would change but not the pattern on the ring and pinion.

he said he already tried running it without the blocks too.

it could be the rear end, but axle bearing and pinion bearing usually grone when they go bad.

Wheel bearings were one of the first things I checked when it started happening. They are fine. Although, the driver side front axle U-joint went out so I just replaced them all with greasable ones.

Nothing is making noise (yet) and I have checked the bearings as well as I can and they seem OK, but who knows. Maybe I'll be able to better figure this out with the whole truck on jackstands running in gear...

I have had my truck about 4 months. From what I can see the only thing keeping Dodge's 2500/3500 series trucks from being complete POS's is the Cummins' under the hood. I haven't been real satisfied with my dodge. I drve my dodge more than my ford but if I'm going any distance (out of state) I take the ford. This death wobble thing is about to do me in. I have to drive like a Grandma down the interstate to keep it from shaking. I love the power, and the look. Just not too impressed w/ the suspension quality.

Yeah, this has gotten me pretty fed up as well. I'm giving the dealer one last chance and then I'm REALLY considering trading the truck in. Of course it'll probably be on another Ram though. I'll have to see what kind of deal I can get. KBB says my truck is worth $25K trade-in, which I don't think I could get, but if I buy a new truck, maybe.... a slight maybe.

Anyone remember the name of that online Dodge dealer that supposedly can get trucks for real cheap? I think it is out in the midwest somewhere...

Get rid of the BFG's, if they've got more than 10k on them they're probably going square.

Jack up the truck and spin the tires and measure the distance between the tire and road when they are spinning you'll find that they are most likely an inch out of round already.

I've had 2 set do the same thing, BFG's suck!!!

If you read my first post though, I had thought of that, and swapped in some stock 265 Michelins and it didn't help. So it shouldn't be the tires. But if someone in the Metro DC area or up in PA has a set of stockers to sell for CHEAP I might consider picking them up, if only to have them on when I trade it in.

Seriously, if you just advance your castor your wobble will disappear. It has to do with the Y front end and suspension modifications, even tire wear or brands can bring it on. Mine didnt start to wobble til my Toyos got down below the 3/4 wore out mark, but I had a buddy do the castor trick, and it fixed it right up,, any front end guy that is worth his salt will have heard of this and fix you right up,, the dealership will just set it to factory tolerences, which work on the gassers, but are marginal on the diesels

For mine, I set my caster back quite a bit and it didn't seem to help at all.

my old trucks used to do the "death wobble" thing. didnt know it had a name. mine had two reasons that fixed it, old worn tires and bad steering stabilizer. mainly it was the out of ballance and un balancable worn tires that threw it off. the steering stabilizer just helps to mask the problem more than be a cause of it.
