Oil changes
Re:Oil changes
You'll get as many different replies to this question as there are stars in the sky. I say follow your owners manual. If you're not in CA, the drain interval is 7500 miles for severe service, and 15,000 miles for light. At 15k I plan on switching to Delvac 1, and will do 10,000 mile changes at that point. These engines are very easy on oil and have a huge sump, so 3000-5000 mile changes are pretty much a waste unless you are constantly towing major weight, in which case I'd do oil analysis to determine the proper interval. I'm sure 10 million other people will have opinions, so get ready for the flood!

Lightman is right... I have seen folks chastised for changing their oil too often
. Folks around here take a little thing like oil changes VERY serious :
... Don't know why, I mean, sure oil changes are important, but get ready, you opened the flood gates. Oh, I change every 5,000 mi both filter and oil. Stratapore & Rotella. Oh, and welcome to the board. Stick around, I know I've learned alot in a short time from the guys here!-Steve
