Question O-ringed Head-What Gasket

I just bought a ported head that has been o-ringed, and the guy that had it said that he just used his stock gasket, but i though i read somewhere here that you could not use a 3rd gen gasket with an o-ringed head and that you had to use a 2nd gen one. Basically i need to know the best head gasket i can use(marine, cometic, or stock) and what generation it needs to be.

Thanks for your help

You need to use a 24 Valve head gasket from Cummins part number for that item is 3977063 that is the part number I have from cummins and I used that gasket in my truck and also one of my customers trucks ans have had no problems.

hope this helps

I used a stock thickness marine 12v gasket on several cr o ringed heads. You need to add a little rtv on drivers front of it. Been several thousand miles no issues so far. Tim
