I am coming into a little bonus in a month or so. I have gotten permission to get a large upgrade to my truck. I posted a few days ago that i was going to get Injectors. Alot of feedback has me second guessing on that. People are saying that i need to work on my tranny. Here is my story
My truck only has 37k miles on it. the tranny is still in pretty good shape and not too much wear on it. I dont do hot rod racing or even give my truck a hard time, my truck has never seen over 80mph and i think my edge att. has recorded 2600ish rpm max with 32psi boost max (i am just trying to go off memory about the stats). I was planning on getting 50hp sticks and a turbo. but my delemma is i dont want to get these upgrades and then blow my tranny and have to fork out money I dont have for the built tranny i am planning to get in the future. These are the pricy items what i want. Which should i get for the 2kish bonus $. My truck is mainly used for daily commute/road trips/a little bit of towing.

I think that no matter what, once you start modding your truck, tranny work or an HD clutch is a requirement.

 

why dont you open a poll....have everyone pick thier favorite mod based upon your list?? It will at least quantify it some.....

I'm not giving you a hard time, but i struggle with adding other go fast parts when you're current setup can kill a stock transmission....granted with your driving, it'd last a while......but why add more power you're not going to use?

I personally chose to do the trans before a fuel pump and turbo.....fuel pump's pretty cheap so that doesnt really matter......in my case, the turbo's worthless, as i'd need to put the smarty on 7 or 9 to need egt control, but then i'd kill the tranny (or drive like a nun on those levels)....and running a larger turbo w/o more fuel kind of defeats the purpose....

But i understand....for those of us with funding / wife limits....it's a tough call on how best to utilize our resources...

 

tranny. it does not matter how much power your engine can make if the tranny cannot put it to the ground. you'll be dissappointed in the lack of performance, and then the trans will gone boom. gotta do some things first unfortunately.
