next step in engine mods?
I am new to diesel engine modifactations. I have installed an s&b intake, an edge juicewith attitude, and a cfm intake manifold horn on to my 2007 5.9. What should I do next? I would like to know some sort of order or priority of needs in which I should upgrade my engine. I Have the aut trannie and I am in the process of getting a tc, valve body, and input shaft. What do I do next? thanks
First off, you are posted in the 6.7L section so you probably won't get much love here. You should try posting in the 5.9L section where you will get many many more replies.
Second off, i'd be willing to bet you are going to get 25 different responses from 25 different people. Everybody puts their own priorities in line. Personally, my first upgrades with your truck would be the tranny which is the known weak point in the driveline. Then, when moving on to the engine, i would start with head studs and fuel system. An Airdog or FASS, then a modified CP3, then larger injectors, then a bigger turbo (or compounds if that is where you want to go with it). A larger intercooler would be next for me. Then I would look into electronics, perhaps a Smarty. Whichever way you plan to go, i would do the hard parts (read: internals) first, then move on to the electronics and such. Get a solid infield put together with a rangy outfield before you start looking for an ace, so to speak.

Need to look at a fuel system then, something along the lines of Airdog, Fass, GDP, or BD. You want to make sure you will have better quality fuel so filtering down to 2microns is what is needed for these trucks.
Then you will probably want to start looking at turbos. And the addiction really begins!
