New Turbo and Sticks
New Turbo and Sticks
Unexpected Results,...
Turbo: HTT 62/71/13ss
Sticks: DDP 90's
I had the sticks in for a week before changing the turbo and although things got a little warmer under strong acceleration they were the same at cruising speeds (75).
Put the turbo on and now things get warmer all around (about 100 at cruising) and take a little longer to cool down.
Of course this was still with everything set on KILL. I'm now experimenting with different levels between BDTD (CL) and the Quad II but just curious if this is normal or if theres a break in period for tthe turbo etc.
All in all happy except the temps.
Havent done it yet but looking forward to Friday as I'll have the chance to get the dyno #'s.
Thanks,
J

What you are seeing is normal. You have to keep in mind the turbo you purchased is geared toward cooling down the top end, not the bottom end like the stocker. That 13cm EH is nearly half again as large as your stock turbo... which in turn means less exhaust driving the turbine. You should see much cooler temps at the high end. Also, the injectors play a big role in that heat. Bigger injectors means more heat at any power level.
That said there is a small break in period for journal bearing turbos, roughly 200 miles.

Ditto, i have the 62/65/13 and it's hotter at cruise (with stock stixs), expected such from research here on dtr....it's normal to be 100* or so hotter just cruising around town....with mine, i can get to 800-900* getting to 60mph at a slowly pace.....get on the hammer and it only gets to 1300* to 95mph
