new guy with a couple ?s

wife and i just got our truck on Halloween i want a little more power and sound out of it and was thinking about straight pipe. I'm used to having loud vehicles (I run my cutout on the Camaro open 24/7 and the Blazer will soon have dual 3" exhaust with very short Flowmaster Delta Force muffs) not to mention this truck is only used about 3 days a week for short commutes and the occasional trip to the dunes with the dirtbikes. Also, is there anyone running straight pipe with duals out the back?

I'm running just a straight pipe and love it. It gets a little loud in the cab when pulling my boat but other than that I would do it.......

I have seen and heard a dual straight piped truck and it sounded fantastic from the outside. Having never ridden in it though I cannot tell you how that would have been. I have the MBRP exhaust (single) and I find it a bit load. To start with, I liked it but now I wish it was a bit quieter, slippery slope we get are selves into for sure.

i will tell you if you are thinking about staight piping it out the back like you would with a gasser...DONT DO IT

it you ever pull a trailer the front will be covered with soot, even if your truck doesnt have a chip to make it smoke more. now if you run the duals out the side of the back like the stock one exits, that is much better, but i know of two guys who paid to have pipes made to come out the back, and both had them re-made to come out the side because it ruined their trailers

I wouldnt run straight pipe due to the reasons stated before, but have both of them flare out to the sides. I have mine that way, just single tho and i noticed more noise in the cab but i got use to it pretty fast. also with windows rolled up and a little music you dont even notice, it goes nice with the GenII air intake whistle.

getblown,
that's a good point you brought up about the pipes running straight out, considering we're planning on getting a toyhauler in the future. Perhaps just a plain ol straight pipe with tip out the right side will do the trick. Anyone know if there are kits out there that eliminate the cat and the muffler? Or do I need a muffler shop fab up my exhaust?
