i have received and installed the new prototype recon cab lights. they have been on my truck for three weeks now. they are a big improvement over their last cab lights. i have had no leaks, no wind noise and i have only had to retorque them once after the intial install. the led bulbs are "built" into the design- they do not look replaceable. there are three led bulbs per light. with the new design lights- when they are on- the light beam is straight-standing next to the truck-there is no side angle lighting-meaning if you turned on the cab lights during the day and stood next to your truck you could not tell they were on ( i hope i explained that well enough) the only disappointment is- their new style lights still need to be hard wired into your existing wiring. i was told they would be a plug and play design-but they are not. the ones sent to me were a smoked lense, with amber led lights. the base of the light is fake chrome ( i prefer black) but they are a definate improvement over their last design as well as the stock cab lights. recon told me they will be ready for sale to the general public the 3rd week of oct.

 

Thats great they changed design's for the folks the had leaking housings. I just went out and bought 5 wedge style whie LED's for $6..

I was thinking of adding some led lights to the side of my truck maybe under the doors down low but visable to the side. This thing is long and all black and at night little cars I feel can't always see me well. has anyone found a resonale place to get some led lights something small and not expensive. maybe 3 led's per light? Kind like the side marker lights on a big rig... I ordered the 2nd gen lights with the LED upgrade from recon but they haven't come in yet. I will post pics once they are on.

Thanks, but I was looking for something a little smaller. More like a euro turn signal but with maybe 3 leds in it and could be mounted like the recon light. you know something like the lights coming on new trailers...

 

lfd2037- you can order them in mid october from recon accessories. i got one of their first prototypes of their new design because i complained to them constantly about their lack of quality,etc from their previous design. i'll snap a couple of shots tomorrow night(sun) at dusk and post the pics.

 

update- on my post- i talked to recon again. since i have an early production set of the lights- mine are hard wired into the existing wiring. the final design-ready to the general public in oct will be plug and play!! these lights are a big improvement guys!! i think you will be very happy!!
