Nelson/Donaldson mufflers

I am looking to replace my magnaflow with either a Nelson/Donaldson. The drone while towing is deafening! I am wanting to know how others like/dislike the Nelson. The 41" seems to be a good compromise of sound and performance. Also, where is the best place to purchase one?

My dad did the 51"x10" with 5" inlet/outlet with adapters. It flows more than any other option for the Donaldson. It sounds completely stock in the cab and just a slight rumble tone when outside the truck. At idle outside the truck it sounds stock as well.
I like it so well, I am thinking of ripping mine all off and gong that route.

Can any muffler shop source the 51" Nelson or is it best to mail order and just have them put it on?

If mail order is the way to go, who's recommended?

Thanks,

What about adding a resonator? Or moving the muffler forward to where a resonator would be? Anyone know if this would eliminate drone/vibration?

I was thinking installing my new muffler right after the down pipe instead of where the original one is.

Your local big rig shop should have one that is where i got mine.
That is what i had before i went to 5 inch. The drone was much less with the nelson that with the 5 inch. when it shifts in to OD at 45-50 the drone while towing will drive you

I am omaharams dad so you known what we think of how it sounds.

I went to the Donldson web site and looked at flow rates. Then I called Donldson and ask who was a local distribiter for there products. Then called and ordered it. The muffler was $95. I also bought 2 adapers 4’’to5” one piece of 36”( only needed 24”) straight pipe belled on one end and clamps. I spent about $150 total

If you take the cat off where it meets the down pipe and the tail pipe out of the back of the muffler. You can install the straight pipe (aprox. 24”) on down pipe, then the muffler w/adapters and then the tail pipe. I used the one hanger on tail pipe to hold it up. Then bent ½” steel bar to go from the muffler to the rubber hangers and welded the steell bar to the muffler. Muffler number is M100580

Has anyone put one of these on a mbrp system,, the drone is going to kill me, even though I put on a resonator.
