Smile Need Opinions

First of all I would like to say that I love the Edge Juice w/Attitude. Anytime it has had a minor problem Edge stepped up and took care of it, they have fantastic costomer service and I have to say I really like the Attitude monitor better than needle gauges. (I had autometers in my 01) The problem is the EGT's are too high with the chip. I think it would be perfect for someone who does not pull very heavy or is just looking for power. The adjustability is perfect but, climbing those big hills with four horses maxes out the EGT's pretty quick. So what I was thinking since I really don't want huge power just a little more thump to pull my horse trailer is getting the Smarty Jr and the Edge Insight CS monitor.

Does anyone have any experience with the CS monitor? Is there a problem with this combo as they both use the OBDE port?

Thanks for the imput
Dave

It is possible, the tire size you have on your truck is causing the increase in EGT's as if you have 3.73 gears, the tire size has reduced you effective rear gearing to 3.37. This will create extra load when towing running the juice on the tow mode.

I had 3.73's and when towing heavy I too would be up in the low 1200's. I changed the rear to 4.10 and saw a drop to 1080 with the same tow.

Next time out try running in 5th gear and see if the EGT's come down.

Thanks

I actually have the stock 265 michilens on for the summer. Dropping to 5th gear I will hit 1350 pretty easily. I have to back out of it pretty quick. At the top of a mile long 6% grade I will be going 40 mph. Not because there is no power but because I can't keep the EGT's below 1350-1400 degrees on level 2 with mid fueling.

I use the Smarty Jr and a Bully Dog moniter. The both use the OBDII port. You plug in the Smarty Jr, and download the tune you want.

Then you unplug it, and plug in the moniter.

You cannot use them both at the same time, like to use the POD while you're driving along.

Thanks boB. Do you find that you change the power levels on the smarty alot? Most of the time I have to change the levels on the Juice to control the EGT's. I hardly ever use the levels above 3. Also does anyone run the Insight CS?
