NEED [want] EXTRA TOWING POWER

Just want to stay ahead of my buddy's new Powerstroke. Grossing right at 20,000 lbs. on Fancy Gap takes it to the limit. Truck is stock less muffler & some intake mods. Looking at Edge Juice w/Attitude. How many extra pounds of torque can my 48re handle ? Any pro's or con's from anyone running the Juice.

So you're pullin' about 13k, is that right? I would add more than 50hp or so on the stock tranny. Save up to do the TC/VB, that alone will make it tow much stronger.

until that trans is done right, all the power in the world wont make a difference in towing ability, it'll just kill the tranny.

Gotta keep an eye on those egts too. I know an auto is a much differant animal but my egts would get out of hand WAY before my clutch started to complain. Towing or empty, unless I turned the power way up, then the clutch pretty much just got smoked.

I have the quad standard and I tow using the 60 hp setting. I tow a 11K 5th wheel. It is a hugh difference now I have plenty of passing power and the egts are great. According to most opinions 100 hp might be the max for the trans. But for towing I personally wouldn't use much more than 60-70 hp. Hasn't hurt the trans in the past two years. It has made a huge difference in my experience.

NB, that reminds me. Last April I went from Ga, to Texas for the mudnationals. I hauled 9 big 4x4 quads out there, on a 7 ton 25' goosneck. We had 2 quads on the deck on the neck so I am sure that added a lot of drag.

Anyway, the highest egts I saw was 1450 with the quad on 60. That was doin 80mph through Mississippi up hills in 6th with my foot in the floor. AFE stage 2, 4" straight pipe, and factory turbo.
