Hello everybody, I'm getting the first thing in three years since I got my 2006 Ram SLT 4X4 and that is a SMARTY POD 6. I have no idea what I'm doing but that is why I have you here my fellow RAMers, to open my eyes before I blow something up. Also I am intersted in a new set of bigger/wider tires and an airlift to provide a much smoother ride(my wife hates my truck for that reason ). Any suggestions? Sincerely thanks...

 

Kelderman makes full air suspension systems. They ride very nice and have a ton of adjustment... but they are big $$$.

Just run the smarty no higher than sw3 and keep torque management on default (assuming you may have an auto-- if it is a manual, then sw5)until you can get gauges (egt and tranny temp at a minimum).

Then address the tranny/clutch before you over power that.

 

If you wanna be able to carry the weight it's hard to avoid a bit of a stiff ride. You could change the front and rear suspensions to set ups by Carli or Thuren but it won't be cheap and you'll still need air bags out back to carry a load.

I think you should buy your wife a GM half ton if she wants a soft riding truck!

If you're getting a Smarty first thing to do would be to get some gauges, keep an eye on your trann ytemp, fuel pressure and EGT's.
