Muffler Eliminator

Gonna start with the muffler delete pipe and go from there.

Mine should arrive monday.

Clamps in place of the existing muffler and, has a rear clamp that has a welded on hanger that pokes into the the factory hanger hole. PLUS it has the bends in it to keep the pipe in factory position.

Having the cat will make a difference in sound and ease the mind about complying with the law (or being hammered by it out of the blue).

If all is okay, then fine, if not it can be easily yanked out and a straight thru fitted in place, using the bends from the eliminator pipe to keep exhaust piping running where it belongs (pictured in my ever expanding mind).

Reading all the posts about exhaust, I have come to the conclusion that it is to each his own, on how the it sounds with whatever mod that has been done.

So if I don't like the no muffle start to my mod, I just hope that I choose the right muffler the first time. I'm tired of that third time's a charm thing.

BTW, what's this resonator thing I keep reading about?

The last I remember about those things is they were a smaller, second muffler of sorts that was used on luxury cars of the past, mounted aft of the differential to futher quiet those big cubed gassers.

JohnCA58,

Installation looks great, thanks for the part number.

Had to try the no muff thing first, but I bet dollars to dounuts that I'll end up with a straight through when it is all said and done.

Having a part number and photos from someone who has got it right makes it almost done.

if you guys would have bought those 3rd generations when they first came out you would not have to worry about your cats.

I bought the Donaldson at work so it is cheap for me. you should be able to find that muffler for about 75 dollars , the pipe was left over from jobs. S.S 304 is about 10 dollars a foot. it took about 3.5 ft. and the band clamps are S.S. about 12 dollars a piece. yes the muffler is up front and I cut the hangars off the old muffler and welded them back on to my set-up.

crossy,

You're right, the MBRP muffler bolts in easily and has welded hangers that reuse the stock rubber mounts. Occassionally we have some one claim it's too quiet, but if you use our cat test pipe for off road and racing it will liven it up just right!!

I think only two or three at the most that I have read. Long span to run flex, also there is the problem of support where the bracket was welded on the back of the stock muffler. Delete pipe comes a clamp that has a bracket welded on, supporting the pipe run like it came from the factory.

Genos' sent the wrong size pipe the first time around (for a 2003 3 1/2'"), they were good about it and sent another (4") right away with prepaid shipping labels to make it easy to send the first one back, at their cost. Just arrived yesterday, will have it on the truck by friday.
