MP8 box with stock exhaust

i was reading thru some old threads and ran across one on the MP8 box for towing...
this sound like something i could be interested in because i'm confused about what to do about the exhaust.
i like the quietness of stock, but don't want to harm anything(turbo, egt's,tranny, etc) with addition of a box....
i'm looking for more towing power than tire smokin, clutch rebuilding HP..
i tow dad's 30'(13k lb) camper and 10,500lb bobcat and trailer
i will replace exhaust if a must, but would prefer not to(as i'm not sure what to do - noise=performance - quiet=factory)
anybody else out there run the MP8 box with a fairly stock CTD with no problems in a towing application????
as you can see from my signature, my truck is basically stock as far as engine mods..
i hope i'm not annoying with some many threads and different topics.. i really enjoy and value the info....thanks

you have 4" turbo back exhaust...you dont need an upgrade until you are hitting 500rwhp.

install and EGT guage before you tow with any box. That is a must have. I hit 1400* towing with a bone stock truck.

I also think that gauges are a good idea, but with my MP8 my EGTs went down from 1050 to 850 when towing my 12000lbs 5th wheel.

You can get a HUD system with the MP8 box that has Boost,EGT,RPM and fuel rail pressure.

8mpg,

Get the MBRP MK96116 muffler, welded hangers bolts right on and gets you a straight thru systems at a fraction of the cost of a new system. The MP 8 is a great product for stacking or towing. The HUD" Heads Up dislpays are finalized this week from what I have heard from Dennis and are going to be ready to ship ASAP! Ask the membership here abotu the MK96116, we have sold hundreds of them and lots of members have them, you'll like it!

Mark... I was thinking of getting a muffler but just dont want to loud or a drone. Straight pipe is annoying at 70mph for 18hrs straight.

8mpg,

If you leave the cat alone it'll be just fine, when the cat goes away the tone, volume and such rises accordingly. Be sure to check and make sure you don't have a resonator behind the muffler as the pipe starts over the axle, makes install a PITA if you do.

I have that resonator you speak of on my truck. How will that affect installation of the MK96116 system, which I happen to have under my desk?

Take the Resonator, a trash bag, and a couple of bricks down to the pond and...you know...do the kitten thing.

Loose it.

Pressure via a remapped fuel curve and boost fooling...both low and high end. That will indirectly affect duration and ever so slightly timing.
