Look at the build date. Anything 1/04 is an 04.5. The 04 and 04.5 motor are C in the vin. Both can be HO. 305/555 or 325/600. Build date is not wrong unless someone change the motor after purchase.

The "C" moved to the fender in 2006.

I don't think it can have the HO in it if it's a true Cali truck until the 04.5 came out then it was sold in the 50 states.

easiest way to gauge is if it says 325 hp on the sticker on the "valve cover "
So 305 HP is 4.0?

What's a 4.0?

305/555 motors were available in 2003 and 2004. In 2004.5 the 325/600 was available. In order to tell if you have a 325/600 you have to look on the white sticker on the driver's side rocker cover below the black plastic valve cover to see what the advertised HP is. Or, you can look at the engine manufacture date on the inside of the door. Anything after January 1st 2004 is the 325 HP until the 2007.5 came with the 6.7 at 350 HP.

Hello. I finally got to look at his truck again in the light. Right there on the valve cover, 325 hp. Maybe it is time to check for glasses.

Thanx for all the tips guys.

I took mine off... Does this mean I lost all that extra horsepower?
