Minor fender trimming to fit bigger tires

I know i read that some of you guys did a little fender trimming to your trucks, panels, bumpers, cabs, etc. Can anyone tell me the tools i'd need and any tips i could use? Also pictures of your project would be appreciated.

I just got my 41" iroks and they look HUGE, with 9 inches of total lift im going to be pushin it very very very close or im gonna rub...

I used an air powered die grinder and cut-off wheel. They make very high powered electric ones if you don't have a large air tank. Just make sure your cutoff wheels are rated to the speed of the tool you use. I put some clear packaging tape on the fender and drew my cut line on to the tape. This kept the paint from bubbling and getting messed up. Then I went back with matching touch up paint and covered the raw metal edge to prevent rust. I would say with your lift, your not gonna need much if any at all. You just have to be careful at certain approach angles.

And please, get us some PICS!!!!

Not on my Dodge, but on the chebbie in my gallery I trimmed the front to fit 35" with no lift. The truck is a beater, but I still like to make the work I do look nice, so I fabbed up a jig so both sides would match and used a plasma cutter.

I've done some higher end trimming as well, if you tape the area you are going to cut, it helps save some of the paint from chipping. Use a new blade for cutting, and go slowly letting the blade do the cutting you dont want to push the blade into the steel. Better yet use an air cut off wheel. Follow up by painting up the freshly cut steel, so there is no exposure to the elements.

I used an air die grinder with a cutoff wheel. Figured out what I needed for clearance drew that line, then measured about 3/8 to a 1/2 inch inside that line. Cut the inside line. Cut multiple relief cuts to the first line and then bent over the 'flaps' to make a more factory rolled over look. I then pulled the black mud liner thing to the new fender line and pop-riveted it back into place. Now my 315-75-16 BFG Mud terrains will NOT rub period. Full lock to lock at full articulation. They do NOT rub at all on the control arms either. Turned out pretty slick need to get some picks up. A 35 really fills the fender well up nicely.
