Magnuson-Moss Act of 1975.

Would this law save me if I have a problem with a front diff and trans fluid leak?I hate to take all my mods off just for that. What,s your opinions and have any of you guys ever had to use this with your dealer?Should I call them and ask how they feel about performance add ons?

Technically they have to prove that the mods caused your fluid leak but they never do. You can try and force this on them but most don't care because they know that your not gonna hire a lawyer over a petty thing like a fluid leak. It's easier to just take the mods off and take it to them.

The MMWA warranties that a vehicle would be good for it's intended use for a certain period of time. Why wouldn't it be covered under the Dodge warranty?

My feeling is that law was passed to prevent the dealer from doing something dumb like voiding your powertrain warranty because you changed the dash light bulbs or the radio.
Making them show that the mods installed may have led to the trouble reported.
Not to give a vehicle owner Carte Blanche to add 1,000 horsepower to the stock vehicle then try to get it covered by the manufacturer's warranty when the drivetrain explodes.

Some dealers are more tolerant of mods than others.
It depends on the rapport you have developed with your local service department, ......and your own conscience.

just remember d/c has deeper pockets than you. the magnuson-moss act sounds real great- but in the end- it will be up to you to prove that a mod didn't cause the problem, etc. not the other way around.
