Hey folks,
I am looking to upgrade the tuning software on my truck, but I am kind of at a standstill and here is why:

I bought an 06 3500 used 3 years ago and the owner said it had 500 whp, and when I drove it, I knew it did not at that point. I asked him a bunch of questions related to power mods and he knew nothing, other than a guy that knows his stuff did the work. I asked if it was flashed but he didnt know. He said a different injector pump was installed and a turbo off the 6.7l. I can not confirm that as I just don't know enough about the injector pumps on the HPCR system. The last truck I owned was an 01 3500. So after a few years of driving this truck when I need too, I am ready to start towing my 32' enclosed trailer. I did tow it once a good distance and it I got around 14mpg and it struggled up the hills on 81 in VA unlike my last truck that never needed to come out of 6th on the same roads with the same load. (it had a edge comp box and stage III injectors) So I am leaning towards there is nothing done to this truck and I would really like to get a Smarty Jr at least to help fuel economy and towing power. What I don't know is if the stock tune is on the ecm and if it is not, how do I go about getting it? Is there anyway to verify this before I spend the cash on the Smarty?

Currently what I know and can confirm is the truck has a FASS system on it (was on it) and I installed a SBC flywheel and clutch system as well as a 4" exhaust system. Other than that, that is all I can confirm.

Yes I know how bad the t03 gasket is leaking, that will be replaced this week!

 

If you buy a smarty the smarty will overwrite the ecm and wipe out if there was a previous tune in the truck.

Hard to really tell if the CP3 was changed out. It's possible, but from the looks of it I'd say it's the factory unit as crusty as it is. What is noticeable though is that someone has had to splice the FCA wires. Don't know why but it's obviously common because you can buy the splice kit from Genos. The turbo looks to be an '06 unit as well. If you want factory tuning BEFORE installing the Smarty then you'll have to take it to a dealer to have the ECM flashed back to stock settings.
