Leveling Kit
Leveling Kit
Talked to a local Off Road shop about a leveling kit. They said go with a Skyjacker kit (coils and shocks) and priced it at 450 installed. Anybody using this kit and how does the quoted price look?
I havent heard too many good things about Sky Jacker coils. And their shocks are junk. You would be better off with some Bilsteins that are valved specifically for our trucks and some better quality coils from maybe KORE or Lorenz. Better yet just buy a leveling kit from one of those two and be done with it. It may cost a little more but you get a better riding kit with a life time warranty.
I am very pleased with the KORE springs and the Bilstein shocks that came in the HD Leveling Kit. I also installed the Bilsteins in the rear. There are several kits with 2 in leveling, excellent springs, and shock options - Bilstein, Fox, etc. Seek out the good stuff, it will pay for itself when you do not have DW and front end troubles that can be much more costly than a good kit in the beginning.

go with a good name like mentioned above for aftermarket coils. (Kore, Thuren, or Lorenz)
Skyjackers are prone to saging - even on a Hemi truck as I have seen one first hand get shorter and shorter. Cheaper ways are like I chose and thats a steel spacer. Wasnt too fond of the idea, but I have no complaints yet. I got a smoking deal on mine and had to try them and I am satisfied with that I have for now.

im getting ready to order either the kore kit or the lorenz leveling kit and can't really decide. someone in another said had mentioned that the kore coils were way to stiff. also what about the difference between the 6% and 23% on the lorenz coils, would the 23% be to much if i don't have a big replacement bumper

so are you saying i need to go with the stiffer ones then. i wouldn't really mind if the ride suffered a little in exchange for a stronger spring. just don't want them to start sagging later on.
No, I'm saying you need to go with a quality spring and quality shock valved to match. My springs are softer than stock, but I don't get any bottoming nor are they sagging. A stiffer spring isn't always the answer, especially when adding 2" to the length. What's the point of adding the 2" if you can't use it because the springs are too stiff to compress?
