Leather interior:it's time!

Greetings,
I have grown weary of the stain magnet stock seat covers in my 2006 CTD Quad. I have 4 boys who tend the bring dust (and whatever) with them in the cab whenever we take trips with the 5th wheel, and the stock seats just won't do it. I did a search and noticed a few members have purchased aftermarket seat covers. I know of Katzkin, ALI, and leather seats.com. For those who have made the move, what brand did you get and how pleased are you with them? I personally don't need the high quality of Katzkin as my truck isn't "show quality" in the sense that it stays perfectly clean all the time, but it is used reqularly and cleaned regularly. I have 4 young boys who will put the interior to a good challenge, so quality and durability is a must. Comments/pics would be great. Also, did anyone go a stepp further and add seat warmers? is it worth it (i.e. necessary?)

Thanks,
Joe

I have seen Katzkin covers installed and they look to be of very good quality and workmanship. I have seriously thought about installing a set, but I'm with you, I would like to see how they would hold up in an environment with kids. The sets that I know of are installed in vehicles where the owner is a clean freak and kids in the vehicle are expected to act like adults and the interior is cleaned at least once a week. I need something that will hold up to the abuse of spilled drive up window meals, ice cream spills and a 3 year old's muddy shoes that walk all over the seats. (they do it on their own, he didn't do it)

Isn't it amazing how the muddy shoes walk on their own for the kids, but i can never seem to get them to do this trick for me? The ali leather covers look very durable, but i wanted some first hand experience first before buying.

53willys: do you know which kit/company was installed or were your seat covers hand crafted by the local shop?

Went to the local install shop for katzskin and talked about leather. Was about to pull the trigger on the deal. Then he started telling me about the maintaining of leather or it will look bad sooner than the stock cloth. It can look good for a long time or it can look bad quick. For now I will live with and keep clean the stock cloth, and I have big hairy dogs, the hair would be easier to get off leather. BTW, katzskin, $1200 installed.

maintaining leather=wiping it down with some leather cleaner/conditioner and being done in 5-10 mins.

shampooing all the stains out of my 06 cloth= all day event
I wish my wife had not talked me out of leather..this is my first cloth truck and I have to say I am kicking myself..especially with kids

I have always had chevys in the past - this is my first Dodge (and diesel). I have never had auto seats that stained when water spilled on them like these do - just pitiful.

Very pleased with my Katzkin, excellent fit. All 4 seats are heated.

2006 Interior might be covered under warranty

I have a 2006 QC that is about 6 mos. old, but the interior looks horrible. The 07's went to a stain resistant material because of this. Called a local dealer who said he has seen this alot, but had no info on how to clean it. (Rain water leaves a stain). Called Dodge and was told that the basic warranty should cover this, but I will have to take it to the dealer for a final decision to be made. Will keep you guys posted.

They look like nice seats. Do they have them that are air cooled? I don't care about heated, but I rode in a Cadillac that had air cooled seats! Wow, talk about soothing on a hot day. That was nice!!!
