Just installed a 5" straight piped exhaust...couple questions

i have an 06 3500 dually that is completely stock on 31" tires and no engine mods. I just installed a 5" turbo back exhaust with no cat or muffler.

i thought the exhuast was goin to be alot louder. It is definately deep.

it is only loud right when u get on it but once the rpms increase it starts quieting down and just sounds like air coming out.

what will make it deep and loud thru the whole range of rpms?

maybe bigger tires will put more load on it?

intake?

chip?

I just did a 4" turbo back yesterday in my meagcab. Way too much drone and some rpms have a lot of resonance. Maybe the long wheel base makes it different. I'm puting the muffler section back in today and am going to try that. From what is posted deleting the Cat will help EGT.

when i take off it almost sounds as if i were reving it in neutral.
doesn't sound like it has a load on it.

It has to do with a lot of things. Programming will change exhaust pitch. That 5" pipe is going to quiet it down, the exhaust has more room to expand. It will be deeper, but not louder, in some cases.

Want to make your exhaust sound great? Stick a 2k turbo in front of it. Some injectors will make it louder, too.
