Juice/Attitude EGT wiring question
Juice/Attitude EGT wiring question
Greetings all, I just purchased an Edge Juice/Attitude, and will be installing it this weekend. Currently I already have installed Isspro Tranny temp, EGT and Boost gauges.
I really like the analog gauges, and want to keep them. Can I simply tap the Juice/Attitude into the current EGT and Tranny temp lead wires ? This would allow me to run both, and take advantage of the limit alarms in the JA...

For the EGT thermocouple it should be fine to double up on the reading devices but no need to splice in for the transmission the attitude gets the transmission temp from the trucks computer (or at least it does on my 06, guess I am not too sure about your 03).
Why not put the second thermocouple downstream of the turbo and use the analog gage for that??

I always heard you cant run both off the same sensor. Something about it not having enough power for both, and more or less getting half the reading, if any at all... Havent tried it though, so I wont say for sure.
For the trans temp, I got a diesel manor hot line, installed it there. And for the EGT probe, I have the one that came with the edge/attitude on top, right before the front runner goes down, so it monitors 1-3, and I put my autometer guage probe in the collector portion just above the turbo, in the back "log" monitoring 4-6.

I just spoke to the Edge folks. Thsy advised against taping, although they could not give me a reason. If I had to guess, I dont think it has anythng to due with power, but possibly with 2 gauges installed on one probe there is a higherload, causing a voltage drop ?
I use thermocouples in a multitude of applications for the work I do and there is little chance that two monitoring devices will impact the accuracy of the thermocouple. An example is the Thermocouple is in use suppling a mV to a monitor and you take a DVM and check the mV reading. It will not pull it down. Test it yourself with your own DVM.
